It would not only kick arse, but it would be amazingly godly to the point where the country melts from excessive musical talent :P .

I'm running outta leave at work but I'd HAVE to take a day to travel to Sydney for a show like that!

Indeed. Well, guess I need to get my ticket refunded then. I was looking forward to it; perhaps not getting home, but the event would have been great.

Pleh.

Supposedly Limp Bizkit was the second headliner who pulled out... I even heard that some festival in California had announced in June that they were headlining that festival on September 24th, indicating that they had no intention of playing Soundwave anyway...if that's true, that's pretty rough. Apparently Van Halen were the first to pull out, too. That's just what I heard, though.

Doesn't really make much difference to me whose doing it was, it just sucks that it had to be cancelled like that. Sideshow announcements are coming over the next week or so apparently. If Dev's in there anywhere, I'll snap that right up. Except if it's only in Sydney or something, I think that's a bit hectic a place for a 19y/o girl to travel on her own.. :P

Pretty disappointing. Soundwave has a reputation for being very casual and rash in the way they do their business.
The good news is, Devy had all but confirmed sideshows, so hopefully the incentive DTP had for coming over here hasn't all been lost.

If anything, I think this could turn out to be great, as the festival promoter won't be so scared to put Gojira/DTP on the bill together, as originally it may have taken a lot of business away from the festival itself.

Here's to hoping!!

Ok, from what I have gathered, ticket sales were not so hot. The Soundwave folks attempted to book another "big name" to help sell tickets, but couldn't get them to sign on. Rumors at this point have mentioned Limp Bizkit and/or Alice In Chains as the band they were trying to get. Van Halen was not promoting themselves, and without another big band, the festival peeps decided that they would never sell enough tickets, and dropped the whole thing.

It's academic at this point but Limp Bizkit as a headliner would have been a deterrent for me and many I know.

Wes needs to completely ditch Bizkit and concentrate solely on Black Light Burns, dammit.

In defense of Limp Bizkit (never thought I'd say that), Durst did announce that they were never signed to Soundwave and was unaware of any rumor as such until his band was tied with the cancellation. Or so this article says.

This is typical. A band pulls out at the last minute and instead of going on without them, the nutless bastards at Soundwave cancel the whole show.
