that's so weird to me. i guess the complexity is somewhat understandable, but the huge wall of sound business is what i've always valued ever since i first started getting into music. it seems like lush production and layers would be universally appealing. it's like a candy store for the brain, maaaaan.
i mean that generally. dev is certainly not for for everyone, but the musical qualities themselves are just... so.... juicy. i have a friend who once told me that all the prog stuff i listen to has too much going on and that it takes too much energy to listen to. he's no idiot though. he's a fairly accomplished musician and is growing quickly as a producer. i assume he would understand that unless you''re trying to learn the song, you take a passive role as a listener and let the music present itself instead of chasing it down. maybe this friend is particular is just too wrapped up in the technical side to be passive. whatever, yo.
