Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

I was all revved up to watch it, purely out of morbid curiosity (and we all know how good the internet is for feeding THAT), then thought better of it. I'm against all forms of capital punishment and Saddam's no exception, so while I don't have a particularly weak stomach, I don't see what I have to gain from witnessing his death on my computer.

I did like what Letterman said: Hitler's probably showing Saddam to his apartment right about now.

Here's my two cents:

Killing people is fucking stupid.

That's it, really.

wow, what a funny guy letterman is!

broadcasting the execution of whoever brings us one step closer to the old romans and their circus maximus. perverse thing, like goat said. perverse times nowadays :?

Get up on the wrong side of the bed (head?), did we?

(I agree with you, btw)

Saddam is a lucky bastard, and he knew it when he died. Had he fallen into the hands of the families of his countless victims, his execution would still be dragging on today. He got off easy, if you ask me.

The execution itself was handled poorly, though. Taunt him all you like, but for God's sake don't record it for the world to see! Way to make a bad situation as bad as it can possibly be.

so here's where it leads, among other things:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/met ... 43091.html
he's not the only kid who accidently killed himself after watching the execution. anyhow, what kind of parents watch an execution with their 10 year old son? HELLO? and they were americans, not people from some fundamentalist desert place with no human rights. oh, man.
and "danceswithchickens" truly hit a point there, it was certainly not clever to allow any recording of that event. now he's immortal.

It's difficult to find much that IS clever in all of this, isn't it?

That was absolutely gut wrenching to read. Parents should be more careful with things like that.

i'm very tempted to post this animated gif that shows a part of the hanging and "OH SNAP!" appears typed on the screen, but i promise i wont =X

anyway
it felt kinda *shrugs*. I mean, i actually felt bad for him for a while, but if i picture myself on the place of a member of the countless families he's slain, i surely wouldn't feel that way, so the feelings got ballanced.

it's kinda weird the power the US has though, it's a HANGING, and it's not frowned upon by the west.
WOW ZOMG SO DARK AGES AND GRIM.
