I can maybe understand all of these... Except the "lacking energy". Have you heard much?

I heard From Mars to Sirius and I was not impressed.

They're not a band you can just "jump into"

It takes a few listens, much like getting into Townsend's work for the first time

From Mars to Sirius is an outstanding album

So, Gojira seem to be a polarising type of band. Good..that means that their merits'flaws will be discussed rationally and intelligently, and those paying attention will better be able to figure out if they want to venture that way or not.

As for me, Gojira is up there with SYL and King's X. Leaves chills up my spine when I hear them.

Quite a few people thought the From Mars To Sirius album was one of the best in 2005 on these forums:

I don't think I listed it there since I hadn't heard it in 2005, but now I definitely would. I'm not surprised at all that they're a polarizing band. If you don't listen closely to the music, as with Meshuggah it'll seem like there's no substance. And that's just not the case.

EDIT: Haha, Biert listed "From Mars to Sirius".

I freaked out when I heard them the first time and I was amazed. I showed my brother the clip of "to Sirius" and he said something like: "This music makes me nothing but angry"! So what does this exactely say? Nothing I guess!? Look, nearly every band or music does polarizing. It lay's in the nature of the "thing" itself. The eyes of the beholder deciede if somethings O.K. or not and that IS O.K. Our musical taste is responsible if there is a good band or a bad band.

Every single person deciede whats kewl and what is not kewl and NOT the so called whole mass, think about! Is anyone getting my point?

Oh, and fullgore, this reply isn't directly adressed to you. I just replyed to your post but decieded to make it bigger. I hope you don't feel offended! :D

I paid him many monies in order to change his mind, so that this discussion is polarised further. I like polarised discussions, especially about Gojira.

Yeah oops :P

Let's just say that opinions and tastes evolve as everything else. :P

Does that mean by saying you were "not impressed" you summarized that you liked it first, but later started to lose interest and finally you strongly disliked it? Well, at least you know how to keep things short and simple

I still have to hear FMTS in its entirety. Flying Whales sounded very promising, I listened to it over and over, but then I heard other stuff I didn't like that much. Ah well. Guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't really have that much to say after all.

I was kind of like that too where I thought one song was awesome and the others werent as good, but as you listen to it more they all grow on you :)
