I likes 'em quite much. Scarve as well, another bunch o' Frenchies making a similarly awesome noise. I've been told that Darkane also has a similar sound, but I've found them to be much blander and less interesting than both Gojira and Scarve.

Gojira has that raw quality, especially in a few of their songs. Almost primal. I loves it.

These comments reflect one of the reasons I love SYL in particular.Devy manages to express this ice cold, dense black canvass of sound while keeping an incredibe organic element that makes a nuclear hot core to the music that these other bands ,although great, do not seem to have in as much abundance.

This may sound like an obvious thing for a regular fan forumite to say, but nothing comes within a bee's dick of Devin or SYL at their best. Regardless of the genre. In metal in particular though, everything is just a shadow of what Dev's achieved. Ooh, I have an idea for a topic.

I think Scarve is quite different (but still good) with some Black Metal elements, guitar solos... and a swedish drummer (Dirk Verbeuren) :P

A-men. Testify brother!! You know, I totally forgot about the Ziltoid cover thing. I got back working on a new project(Battlestar is STILL on break) and plumb forgot.

Wow, when I learn about a band and a year later see Dev praising them, then I really know that I have good taste in music. :D

classic! :D there are some other videos like these floating around, can't find any of them, though. there was this one...a little over one minute long, from a birthday party apparently, with tons of people dancing in a room and the music was some death metal with veeery low grunts (apparently recorded through a pitchshifter or something) anyone know that?

Well, I checked out 'From Mars to Sirius' and popped quite a big stiffy while listening to it.

Beavis just popped in my head when I read that. Thanks!

So, the french have given us:
Scarve
Gojira
Lyzanxia
Treponem Pal
Ocean

Not too shabby.

Terra Incognita is by far their best album, imo.

If you like Gojira, Meshuggah and SYL, you should try Hacride. They're much much better than Gojira :P
