windows SP's don't have any impact on linux whatso ever. Make sure you backup your files before you do this. During the learning curve you're likely to fuck your computer up many of times, like i did. I have an old 10 gig harddrive that i use for my *nix explorations. That way i don't have to worry about fuckin' up my partition table on my main HD.

Please slap me for being so lazy. What file system should I use for my partition? There are three linux ones, one of which is swap.

I'm curious. Are there people here that use Windows Vista and like it? Because I've only heard people nagging and cursing it.

I'm a Mac-addicted, but my father bought Vista a few weeks ago... And he is still cursing...

I had a mac. That was in 1994. Now it's broken. It's easy to break. Especially when you're four.

I think Clare is actually quite human and warm, despite her demeanor.

He he he..

I use windows, but I've used Linux a bit at work, and it seems a little...better? Never used a Mac, but I've only heard good things.

I've been using Windows since the early 90's, and I don't think i'll be changing anytime soon. :P

I use Win XP and have done so for three years or so. Haven't had that many problems with it until recently when I had to update my antivirus. The damn thing wouldn't install since the _original_ installation had screwed up some critical files. So hellooo format c:

If I had the cash I'd buy a G4 for recording music only, my heart is not strong enough to handle the possible loss of my riff archive.

Simple solution: "back-ups" ;)

<bink!> Ok. You've been nipping my butt over this for weeks.

I think biert either choked on a bit of apple when he was a kid, or got a slice of skin stuck between his teeth or something. I've rarely seen anyone so rabid about them before. If you want to convert us to Linux.. well...You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar!

That said, Mac and Linux are kissing cousins. They both have UNIX underwear. I see Mac OS X as wearing it like a sexy basque, stockings and suspenders kind of thing.

Linux wears tights and big frilly pants.

Windows wears wellies and an anorak - nothing else... its underwear is too dirty. :P

However, if I really wanted to, I could partition this MacBook Pro's HD and run Windows and Linux as well as OS X. Thereby getting the best, and worst, of all three worlds. :D

Wow, this is quite an old thread. In the first page I talked about using Windows, but now I've been using Mac OSX for quite some time already.
