wow, i didn't know transformers was that big in the 80's - we weren't allowed to watch stuff like that when we were kids, so i can watch the movie without having to fear for my childhood memories. i'm seeing it for the cgi and special fx, for it'll surely suck as a movie, but feature great robot action and mighty pictures.

anyone seen the turtles movie? i heard it's quite okay.

and that rush video rules!

The Turtles movie is very childish. The animation sucks and the storyline is ludicrous. They had promised a darker Turtles movie after the second and third one, which were just awful.

I was actually thinking of looking for my big Optimus Prime toy just because this movie brought it back to my mind!

I'm of a similar frame of mind. I don't understand how a Hollywood knock-off of a cartoon ruins childhood memories. :? Judge Dredd was still a cool comic regardless of how dodgy the movie was.

If it's a crap movie it's a crap movie. :)

I think the movie looks fantastic. I'm a fan of the original show and movie. I think Bay has an interesting viewpoint on it and will make it look amazing on screen.

The movie gets scoreboard points in a big way for getting Peter Cullen to voice Optimus Prime. Not sure about Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith) as the voice of Megatron but I'll reserve judgment until later.

The trailer blew me away when i saw it.
I think it'll be a typical summer blockbuster with great special effects but a dumb storyline and a hefty amount of 'independence day' style cheese.
But I am looking forward to big robots smashing each other up.

Excuse me, as far as I know it's a movie about big ass robots, how can it NOT be a dumb cheesefest with expensive special effects?

edit: not that I have anything against big robots - quite the contrary.
