This deserves its own thread; finally found on Youtube!

Probably the best extreme metal/classic crossover composition ever:

Waltari's "Evangelicum"

Check it out, all of it. I especially like part 6/11.

Thanks for the overwhelming response! :P
I think it's a great piece of art, especially the more mellow sections in the later parts.

777th post btw!

Kinda follows their work on Yeah! Yeah! Die! Die!... which is awesome :)

It's a shame their current work is so watered down and boring. Space Avenue was such a masterpiece it's hard for them to top it. But they could try :) Even something of Big Bang quality would make me a happy camper.

Yeah! Yeah! It is. I briefly talked to Kärtsy on one of Waltari's last tours in Germany, they would like to record Evangelicum properly if they'd have the budget for this project.

Really? Space Avenue was a bit too odd for me, especially production-wise. I prefer Waltari's everything-in-a-blender albums like Torcha!, So Fine!, Big Bang and... Blood Sample. I really like the latter album, songs like "Helsinki" and "Pigeons" rule and the album as a whole is pretty close to Big Bang IMO.
