Well Meshuggah would be the band to do that. They've lost touch with reality on so many levels.

Good to see some people agreeing that there are 3 good songs on it and the rest is "meh" :D

Pfffft..The whole album is good! I would say Pineal and Spiteful Snake were low points, but hell even they have their redeeming qualities. I do believe, however, that Dancers is the most powerful track on the whole cd.

And yea spaceman, dont get in on that over on the meshforum haha no fun!

That last song 'Dancers...' is the worst of them all, I actually didn't finish that one because I got bored.

I wonder why some people complain about nu-metal bands playing the same three chords over and over again every song. Those very same people then go "YAAAAAYYYYY MESHUGGAH~!!z0mg"

You should all give Textures a listen, a bit similar but much more diverse and melodic, much better stuff ;)

Funny to see everyone dismiss it as shit so quickly (well, most of the songs).
Give it some time, let it sink in, hear all the nuances and then form an opinion.

Actually, no... My opinion is closer to "three really fucking great songs, the rest is simply good." ;) It's all 'good,' it's a good album. It's just utterly unremarkable apart from those three tracks, I think.

I tend not to question others' musical taste, even if I heavily disagree with it-- It obviously makes sense to them. Just remember that your definition of which bands are good, boring, or similar to eachother is usually just that: your definition. :p

Textures is a phenomenal band and i cant wait for their new album....But they get too caught up in their Meshuggah rip off parts and their Killswitch Engage choruses.

I honestly dont see how people can dislike obZen. I think the whole album has very strong points but also some weak points like every album does.

Well, Textures isn't verse-chorus-verse music, it's hard to call most of clean parts in this music "choruses". Also the Textures dude has much more shades in his voice than your typical metalcorist. The dude can go from Mike fucking Patton stuff through harmonized choruses you mentioned to of course screaming his nuts off. Besides Dev, it's best voice I've ever heard in metal. There's my 2 eurocents in defense of their vocalist :).

Btw, get caught in Meshuggah rip off parts? I though it was their foundation. Not that's anything wrong.

Their first CD was amazing, Polars. They really found a balance between the Mesh rip offs and hte jazzy parts. Almost like Sol Niger Within. Then they released Drawing Circles(which i was hooked on for months, dont think i'm bashing these guys!) and went for a much more melodic sound.

Best voice in metal besides Dev? Mikael Akerfeldt...hands down.

Akerfeldt only has the death growl and the melancholic quiet voice, but nothing in between. Both are great, some of the best out there. But it kind of lacks the variety other than that.

One thing we agree on: Dev can do it all, he's the best for sure. :D

i was gonna start to bash on åkerfeldts ineffectual vocal habilities, but then i decided to side with bierts statement

Very good points Biert.

The only thing I disagree with is the Meshuggah guitar sound being shit.

It is very difficult to get a decent sound from an 8 string onto a record because of its dynamics but I think Meshuggah got it just fine.

Dev does destroy Akerfeldt though.
