FUCK THIS SHIT. Fucking STALKER got pushed back even on Steam :(

I hit "pre-purchase" (because on Steam it didnt say at this time the game would be unlocked on the 15th) Only to find out that it will in fact be released on the 15th...

While I scheduled more serious playing for the next week (first patch for the Polish version in its way - and game needs one), I couldn't help myself and played a little bit. Game still looks fantastic in its own, Stalkery way - they added few little things, like godrays, ambient occlusion lighting, wet surface shaders and volumetric smoke (last two things only in DX10 - hope modding guys unlock them for DX9, I don't want to migrate to Vista). Also, runs very well when maxed (DX9 of course) on my puny Intel E2180 with geforce 8800GT - even if there's more than ten dudes running around in front of the player - and there will be lots of opportunities to see such quantities of NPCs, since faction warfare seem to be major thing since the beginning of the game.

Of course, knowing GSC, there will be few patches needed to make the game fully stand on its feet, but anyway, looks promising :)

:) Good to know it runs well on an 8800GT cause thats what I have! But I have an AMD 64 X2 dual core that runs pretty fast.

Cant wait to see how it looks in DX10

Haha, patch for Stalker CS is out - hurray for starting things over, fortunately haven't progressed that much. Looks like patch improves performance a bit.

Anyway, I wanted to say watching battles (and taking part in them) is very cool - I was pleasantly surprised when group of attackers (my allies) spreaded out around attacked building, took cover behind various stuff and fired to enemies leaning out of their covers. One guy even cooked grenade a bit before throwing it through the window then promptly hid behind the wall. Looks cool and natural, didn't see that in previous Stalker. Shooting people is still kinda hard, just like in Shadow of Chernobyl, but possibility to upgrade your guns at gunsmith is neat (if somewhat expensive). Hope game won't lose my good impression gained so far :)

Are you good Shepard, or bad Shepard?

it was a tough choice but I decided to be a good boy first. But once I am done with it and give it a second go, I certainly won't give any nice answers anymore! :D Will be interesting to see how different the game is that way!

Also I played a bit of 'Condemned 2' a few days ago which I bought not too long ago. And boy, that game is sick! I'm loving it! God, I'm totally hooked on videogames now and ordered Gears of War and will have to get Gears of War 2 as well when it's out! That and Dead Space, Bioshock for the PS3, Silent Hill 5, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Tomb Raider: Underworld, NHL 09 and Resistance 2. And that just covers the next 3 months

yeah, Far Cry 2 should be good too! I hope it won't blow me away though or I'll have 60 - 70 Euros less in my wallet

oh and here's a funny (well, actually not so funny) thing...I just found out that I will have to buy the UK version of Fallout 3 because in Germany it won't be uncut, meaning much less violence...and sorry, that ain't gonna work for me just for the sake of it. And Austria won't be getting an uncut version either. So yeah, bottom line is, screw German lawmakers and certain politicians...what a bunch of idiots. It's mostly our "lovely" ruling christian party that soooooo loves the family and children and they got today's problems soooo figured out and know that people who play violent videogames are such potential mass murderers. Ya know, next time when someone kills another person for religious reasons, I'll demand religion to be banned for the same reasons. I guess that certain party wouldn't agree or be amused. It's like in the 80's again when just about anything violent made it on the index or even got banned, which is quite sad indeed.
Anyways, so I'll better start studying my English dictionary so I'll understand everything in Fallout 3.
