Halo was definitely what I'd consider above average. Especially the first one. The third has shit singleplayer. Although Half Life is infinitely better.
Oh hey it's me with another cool obscure free game here look: http://toribash.com/

Yes. The Half Life games blow Halo out of the water...As does Deus Ex which was out before Halo as well...

The thing that set Halo apart was the controlability (if thats a word). It handled like nothing else, and was very user friendly. The movements were very smooth and the auto-aim was ridiculous. But now that other developers are rapidly improving the controls of their games, they have much better graphics, physics, and story lines that make Halo just seem like a cheesy arcade game.

I guess that's the point, Halo was the first FPS that worked on a console. PC has had better FPS's ever since Wolfenstein came out :P

It also was the first to think of the rather simple concept of mapping grenades, melee, and shooting all to different buttons, making grenades a part of normal combat instead of a special weapon. And yes, Deus Ex is also more fun, although the actual shooting gameplay isn't the part that's better.

As someone that's been a PC gamer and a console gamer for years (although more of a console gamer nowadays), I'm a big fan of Halo, and I think it compares favourably with PC FPS games of the time, including Half-Life (although it wasn't as innovative as Half-Life). More for the multiplayer than the single player though.

I don't think the "first good console FPS" argument is a particularly good one. Goldeneye on the N64 was pretty popular. Also, how many PC FPS games of the time had vehicles? Let alone vehicles with half-decent physics? Halo certainly wasn't the first FPS game with vehicles, but I'd argue that it was one of the first to do vehicles really well.

Deus Ex's shooting mechanics were bad, except for the multiplayer on PC! lol

But it was more all the things Deus Ex did as a whole that made it such an important game...

Speaking of which I miss games in Deus Ex's style, the whole "cyber punk" dystopian society thing...I really hope DX3 comes out soon =/

I've only really played the demo for Deus-Ex, but I wouldn't compare it to games like Half-Life and Halo so much. With the whole RPG thing, it's probably a bit more comparable to Fallout 3, rather than a straight-up FPS. As I say though, I've not really played it a lot, so feel free to call me out if this is complete shite.

Resident Evil 5 is getting a fucking multiplayer add on! I cant believe they are putting a versus mode in RE5...If you can shoot and move in it I will be so damn happy!

How is Resident Evil 5 compared to the previous efforts?

Can only compare the RE4, because it is just like it. Only the graphics are astounding, the story is a bit more cohesive and the enemies are harder to kill this time around.

Havent tried Co-op yet, plan on finishing it once before I go through with someone.

Cant wait to see how this Multiplayer add on will work though, might have to get it on Xbox too! lol

I tried playing RE5 coop with a friend and it didn't really work too well...dunno if that's just us or if Capcom messed it up

im more of a fan of solving puzzles than shooting zombies, so the harder enemies isnt the greatest news. However, i think i will be buying it as im a fan of the series and RE4 was just tops :) Plus the graphics on the PS3 would be just sick.

i like coop games, but a Resident Evil game being coop just seems odd. id still try it though.
