1 kick drum + 2 beaters + 2 pedals = double bass drumming



I once asked RVP why he uses 1 kick drum and not 2 and he said that sound-wise, it doesn't make much difference, but it saves the pain of having to tune 2 kicks and trying to get them to sound the same, which can be quite a tedious job.

i think the only reason why youd bother with 2 bass drums is to make your kit look more badass

My friend has two, and tunes them to different notes - He has his kit tuned to a C major arpeggio. He's working on getting tuned cymbals. o-o

Okay, Ill try this sentance again.

Could you then use four pedals, so you can double bass on both drums seperately, or split them apart too, so you can have each pedal playing the different note? Does that make sense?

Or am I possibly being insane?

Oh, I think I get you. Do you mean being able to use each drum seperately, and then being able to uese them at the same time without losing the ability to double-kick?

Erm... -scratches chin- You could probably rig up such a system, though it would be a little bit iffy. A duelist on each side could work, but then you would lose out on a lot of the speed on each drum.
