I'd say that ran some mixed emotions through you. I had a sort of reversed-roles encounter of that.I was always one of the cool kids at school (the fact that I use the term "cool kids" definitely means that you can take that as tongue-in-cheek) and there was this girl, Uschi (OMG WHAT IS THAT NAME ABOUT. SHE IS IRISH) who was bullied horribly. A bit of background info: Her dad was a jazz musician (hey, cool), her mom was a child psychologist. NOT a good combo, it seems. They donned her with a pudding-bowl haircut, according to her very unusual testimony only allowed her to shower once a week, bought her one set of (boys) clothes, made her sit in the back seat (even now, and she's 19), feed her rice and beans as her staple diet (wtf?), brainwash her to an extent (I'll get to it) and from what I've seen, they now accompany her to college. In German class, she was asked to write an essay on the general topic "Young People". She wrote about how parents don't instill the importance of education where their children are concerned. Again, I repeat, WTF.

I did my best to get her out of the pickley holes she dug for herself because I'm a cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything, but she was never particularly grateful or nice about it. Even though people sort of ... well ... hated her ... she was still nasty to me even though I was just trying to give her a hand. She always tagged along with our group (with added resentment of us) and was just generally not a nice or normal person. Even though she spent loads of time with us, she never bothered to get to know us on any sort of level. She wasn't allowed to go out with people who weren't on her parents' pre-approved list of cousins and family friends, so she didn't go out with us. For everyone's birthday in school we always devoured a cake in school but she didn't like chocolate. On her birthday in sixth year, we got her a carrot cake, because they're her favourite. She thanked us and brought it home.

We did try and encourage her to rebel to some extent (she came to one of our birthday parties. But she was collected by her parents at 8pm). She never really did. It makes me sad. Firstly, I was sort of offended that she didn't give me a mention in her yearbook page (cos I gave her one in mine. I mean, I thought she'd like it considering she'd spent every day for two years with us at lunch)... Then, when I saw her in college she was with her dad. That's when we expected her to break away. I guess it's never going to happen.

Sorry for the length of the post! How's that for a random thought though. Sitting in a B&B in Kerry, miles from home, writing about somebody I'll probably never meet again.

That's a disturbing story Zyprexa - sounds like maybe some of her screws were loose to put it bluntly. And her parents' too. That's just not normal behaviour on either part. It's really unfortunate that she wasn't allowed to shower when she wanted, as personal hygiene should be personal and unmonitored by parents as you get older.

Well they didn't give her any freedom in any regard. I often wonder if they had her neutered.

So I think I "finished" the song I started writing last night. The problem with it: it's only a minute and a half long. It just feels finished. I guess for the kind of song it is, it's suiting...but I still think it should be longer, I hate when songs are that short =/
