I pre-ordered it not too long ago. I know there are some haters on here  but I'm excited to hear it.

Good. :)

I really don't see how they are worth "hating". Disliking as music, fair enough. Disliking as people, no idea why. Hating because of the vocals, and therefore labelling the whole band and everything they spawn as garbage, not fair. They are good musicians. They are good composers. They are good people.

Some of my friends can't get into them because of the vocals...

Its fair enough, i've not been able to get into bands because of the vocals, but the music is often worthy (and in many cases awesome IMO).

I'm sure you don't necessarily "hate" them... do you?

In typical fashion: I'd like to see you try! :P

...ramble ramble ramble...

^^Right. I'm not the biggest LaBrie fan out there, but he adds his part, and the music is cool. And no one can say that the musicians aren't extremely talented and creative, regardless of whether you like the way they sound.

So whether the CD is great, or not so good - it's worth listening to before rendering a verdict IMO.

I've been turned off so many bands because of crap vocals.

Sorry to say, Dream Theatre is one of them. :?

I did TRY to like it once - I sung Constant Motion on Rock Band, but halfway through I started speaking gibberish and gave up on life for a few minutes.

Yeah, I really don't like his vocals. :P

I quite often get that though, where I enjoy the music, but the vocalist just kinda ruins it for me. I know it's not their fault or anything. If I ever get a band going, I'm sure I'll incite rage into some people with my voice too, kinda inevitable I think.

Yeah, vocals really are massively important.

Which sucks, cus its soooo hard to find people that are actually good / have the sound you'd like.

And instrumental bands rarely do as well as bands with vocalists, cus, well... Vocals are awesome.

Kinda makes you realise how "special" Dev is really. That voice is just... mindblowing. Lucky guy (though he completely deserves everything :) )

I want to know how much money Mike Patton has spent on upgrading his voice box function - It can do rather a lot of things...

(I didn't know much about FNM before tonight. I'd only heard 'Epic'...)

Strangely, this makes sense - I don't know why. It's absolutely ridiculous, but somehow it's so right.
