Damn! US news coverage has been more along the lines of him having a heart attack and being in a coma but now they're all starting to confirm that the King is dead.

That completely sucks balls. He was a fruitloop of the highest order, but was also a pop music phenomenon. Had a huge influence on my music tastes as a kid... I grew up playing Thriller and Bad over and over, like millions of others. What a legacy he's leaving... incredible music, incredible dancing, and the the dark cloud of his... erm... involvement... with kids. EDIT: I'm not taking that part lightly... if he genuinely did mess with kids it means the world has one less monster in it. Will be interesting to see if anyone comes forward with info in the media in the coming months and years, now that he's not around.

And Farrah too... two icons from the 70s and 80s gone in a day. :knocked:

The weird thing for me is that at the very time he was reported to be having that heart attack and being taken to hospital, we were at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame looking at his Bad and Thriller costumes, reminiscing about when he was sane and productive. Jeez!

Hmmmm

Its actually really pissing me off that people can actually disrespect and makes jokes at somebody they only know through distorted media.

All these people that I have added as "friends" on facebook, endlessly making jokes, pretty much happy he's dead. What the fuck is wrong with them?

He had children. He had a family that loved him.

Argh. Nothing I say will mean anything, it'll all just be recycled words that everyones heard before. But FUCK! Some people...

Go lose somebody close to you and see what you'd feel when thousands of people get happiness from the situation. (Not aimed at anyone, unless they are also HAPPY about it)

Its fine to not be bothered. You didn't know the guy, its human to maybe feel no emotion at the loss. But to be HAPPY about it?

(I'll need some backing up here... You all know my poor skills in putting across points of view, lol)

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

He had a library full of great tunes, and was an icon. He definitely got into some bad stuff there for a bit, and has always been the butt of peoples jokes (from the Pepsi commercial hair-fire to, very disappointingly, even now). But he will be remembered for the inspiration he left behind.

I remember getting "Dangerous" on cassette tape back in the day,i enjoyed that album quite a bit and even though i'm all about the metals these days I still enjoyed his music and it was very much a shock to hear about this today. R.I.P Michael Jackson

Same, I think "Bad" was first bit of proper music I owned on tape. Dude had pretty turbulent life, sad story.

Now let's wait for his post mortem record, something tells me we'll see some soon.

Like many others of my generation, Bad was the first album I ever owned on cassette. I remember when Dangerous came out and how excited I was. I had been listening to his music recently and thinking that no pop music would ever be as good as the music he made. I've been watching videos of his live performances on YouTube and he was phenomenal. Most pop artists today can't do half the things he did, and when they try, they have to lip sync their entire show.

He had a messed up life in the end, and I hope that doesn't overshadow the fact that he is probably one of the most important artists of all time and made the best pop music ever. I just feel really bad for his children. He sheltered them their entire life and now that he's gone, it's hard telling what will happen to them.

RIP

I'm sorry, I've never been an MJ fan, and neither has anyone in my family. I guess I've got bigger fish to fry than to mourn a weirdo...

I would like to raise the point that, when The Dev dies (May he live for a million moons), we will be mourning a weirdo. Just sayin'.

Difference being, Devin isn't constantly in the news for his eccentric behaviour.

And I like his music.
