Story line should be a bit more relevant in todays games than it is, but Alucard's right. Gameplay is more important than anything in a video game.

I mean, not everything can be Shenmue.

Amen brother.

know whats a Great game?

Castlevania Sotn! :D hahahah replaying that on XBLA

Edit.

Ah I get where Night comes from, about the old style of games, back then all games were gems. maybe because we were new to them, im not sure, but Alucards right that things change, Personally, i prefer developers trying real hard to come up with some innovative stuff, It really makes the product worthwhile, This gaming gen has been fantastic to me, not so much my wallet however...

That is so true. I think I've beaten that game maybe 5 times. I own it on 3 systems and I never get tired of playing it.

That's how you know you've made a good game. If 11 years down the road you can still play it and it still rings fun, it's good.

That being said, I still stand firm with my comments earlier about Mr. Retro in here.

Yeah! the Upside down Castle is a bitch! but addictive as hell.

Ah stand to your beliefs, its cool, but it is understandable what he means, I dont think he wants to halt progression or anything, its just the games now have become Reiterated more times than i can count and each time, they have become shit. Take Sonic for a prime example.
Sonic 1 and 2 on the genesis, Fantastic games! hell even the Xbla ones re-released is fantastic! But all these new ones that are being made, are fucking Horrid! Sonic turning into a Beast!? :S

However, I wont deny, New ip's, (mirrors Edge, Dead Space etc, ) are Fantastic And show be continued

You can't really blame Sega for recycling sonic games right now. Dreamcast screwed them, and they're trying hard to stay in business as a third party software.

Ideally, we'd have Shenmue 3, but no.

Also there have been plenty of RPG, sRPG, and especially strategy games that are awesome coming out recently. Not sure where you're getting that there's not, dude, but as I've been ranting, check out Atlus and you'll change your mind.

Ah, yes i agree with the sonic bit, but that was just an example.

You really love Shenmue huh? :P Great game, Shame it isn't continued.

I do also agree however that there are plenty of Rpg's I highly Recommend that you explore the Genre's Nightshine. You'd be surprised by just how advanced story telling has become in games. Atlus games are fantastic for that, heck even popular games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, even the latest Gears!

Explore! :D I guarantee you'll find something you'll love

Mass Effect 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell Conviction. All games that look incredibly promising in so many ways.

And the thought of a Mirror's Edge 2 makes me all happy and shit. lol

You know what's really funny? The .hack series. Because it makes no fucking sense that a game about PRETENDING you're playing an MMORPG would be as good as that series is.

Hopefully Solar Fields does the score again.

Or maybe this time they could get a different dude from his label.

Finished Dawn of War 2 and started Mass Effect, which is a bit shit so far to be honest. Ton of talking heads, dialogues with aliens with rubber foreheads and one super-linear level in sucky third-person perspective so far. I think I'm bit spoiled by Fallout 3. But well, maybe it's better in later part.

I have problem with finding myself some decent game lately, by the way, something un-third person, somewhat un-linear or just un-shit. Have hopes about new game from Frictional games. Also Rise of Flight appears to be cool:

I might like it, I loved some Red Baron back then, flying around in a biplane made of plywood, cloth and bunch of wires was fun.

Since we're talking about "classic" games, I think KotoR applies, at least for me. I played through that game at least 50-60 times, finished it, made a new different character and took different choices from the last one. It was so awesome. Best game evar.

I'm looking for a man named Lan Di. He killed my father.

What can you tell me about Chinese people?

Played and finished Tales Of Monkey Island: Chapter 1. Definitely looking forward to the 2nd-5th chapters. Puzzles are easier than in the earlier games, but the humor and atmosphere are still there so I'm glad the series hasn't lost its charm yet.
