I just asked my brother about it - he's done it before ... he said assuming you're using a PC, try out "DVD audio extractor." It's shareware and it should come up with a google search; Or he said if you have VLC, you could try the "transcode audio" option. However, if you're using a Mac (like myself ) then it works a little differently. I hope that helps?

I'm not saying that they do, any sensible person knows that listening to obscure music impresses nobody important. Similarly, listening to one genre exclusively displays an ignorance of the prowess of other genres. I don't think that anyone can be a good musician without exploring several genres in order to attain some perception on music. I exclusively liked metal when I was fifteen because I thought it was cool. Now I find that it's irrelevant what's cool; what matters is finding music that I enjoy. The likelihood of all that being guitar and drum in varying degrees of heaviness is very slim for me. Maybe it's a weird phenomenon on this board. Or maybe it's just uncouthness.

I learned to be quite cautious about all declarations of open mind - notice how most popular artists in "open minded" groups on lastfm are JUST FUCKIN THE SAME as basically everywhere on lastfm - you can be sure there will be lots of Muse, Radiohead or NIN (haha, yes, and even Porcupine Tree!). You're absolutely right, most of the "open-minded" artists fit under the category of "This is easy to listen to. You don't have to think too hard about it and there's nothing particularly tasking about any of their playing methods. I was in my friend's house before and she had her WMP open but her computer was muted. I recommended she close it so her system would run a bit faster, she informed me that she was playing all of her Muse albums on a loop so she'd be the top fan of them on Lastfm. TRYING TOO HARD.
