Really? I use a Jazz III or some variant all the time, and I think economy picking is way easier with it. And I have rather large fingers. There's just a finer response from that tiny pick--goes from djents to sweeps, easy.

Anyway, if you really wanted to switch to a bigger pick, you could always "choke up" on the bigger one, so that it feels more like a jazz pick. Progressively give yourself more pick to work with, and before you know it, you're using those brutish triangular motherfuckers.

Gunk, gunk. Chugga, chugga. Essentially a heavy palm mute. It's onomatopoeia. I think it was discussed somewhere else on the boards at some point.

Aye, I've seen four different descriptions. I was led to believe it was palm muting just after the note was struck.

Damn dude - That's pretty intense. I tried a 1.52 pick once, it felt so huge; and I was using it on bass strings.... how you play guitar with that size, I'm not sure :P Props though.
On the occasion that I use a pick -those purple 1.14 Dunlop picks are a good size in my opinion. They have enough thickness and oomph to play on bass strings without giving under the mass of the string and bending - but they're not so thick that it feels like you're playing with a quarter or a nickle or something.

Oh, and I tried those thick 3mm jazz picks once - ugh.

I burnt through that black one you sent me so fast. It was a nub in two weeks. I don't even hit hard! Maybe I play too much?

I have a friend who has a box of two thousand picks he bought a year ago which he just slowly works his way through. xD
