Don't forget to uninstall the chipset drivers before turning off the computer and replacing the innards. Forgetting it will probably result in annoying process of reinstalling your windowze.

(I assume you're doing it to the windows PC?)

I know, I have to still read up on all the processes. I've had a new mobo and a bunch of other parts sitting in my closet for a while, asking a few friends to help me with it but they are always busy so I figured I would take it on myself.

I do have windows, and yea I just need to find out exactly how to do it without re-installing windows.

Although this is of importance to no one - ha

first day of class today, a rock, blues and R&B performance class:
teacher told us some course information and then set everyone loose to 'network.' He said, 'go meet people, introduce yourself...' part of the class is mandatory performances in front of.. people; every Friday night at this place that's reaaaaallly far away :(

People started forming small groups, one dude asked me if I'd bass for his group. No kind of music I'm interested in, but I don't really have a choice.
One dude who played jazz said a fretless bass would be really awesome, since it's jazz and all.

I'm scared. I think I peed my pants a little.

The only thing I know about being on a stage is to not stop playing even if you mess up, and don't make the "uh oh, I just screwed up" face.
Oh, and "try not to look like a deer in the headlights." Other than that... Pfft. I'm toast.

You're the bass player. Nobody watches the bass player. :P

There's not a lot to say that can take that nervousness away. Just try to relax and think about the prospect of making some nice music with others. The first time I had to play live with a band I was also really nervous but halfway through the first song it turned into "yeah, this is cool" and afterwards it was "I'M FUCKING ROCKSTAR, KISS MY FEET!!".

I'm sure you'll do fine.

xD Just relax, or do what I do. Make funny faces the whole time so that if you do make a "OH FUCK I MESSED UP THIS GIG IS RUINED" face, no one will really notice.

And to be honest, I woul dhave LOVED weekly gig things. It'll get you in good form and practice for playing in front of people. ^^ And if you aren't interested in the music, make it interesting.

Another tip - If you think it's getting boring, get your prog on. Displace some beats, throw some random fiddly groove in there. Make it fun for you and the people listening. And good luck! I wanna see videos. xD

That's great advice, thank you man. Just what I wanted to 'hear.' HDR moral support! :D
Ha you're right, bass player kind of gets overlooked which is fine with me. Ew, but Ska? *shudder* Oh well. Broaden your horizons, right *still shuddering*
Have you ever gotten any recordings or footage from any of your shows?! :)

Whew, thanks you guys. The strange thing is, you guys give better advice than people I know personally :o
I might just have to prog it up, monotone downstrokes aren't very exciting for anyone, but we've all had to do stupid shit for a purpose, right?
lol videos - don't no body want to see that... well maybe if there's something worth showing :}

Maybe that would help out. But then again, maybe it won't: Eww

Yeah, I know there's a video of our first ever gig where we played a bunch of Metallica covers and only one of our own songs (because at that time we only had one). I've never seen it myself though, I'll have to ask our old guitarist. I have a video of a full acoustic performance in a local record store, but that's rather poor and bland and shiznit, I cringe every time I see it. :D

And then there's this:

A stage which was small even for us 3, and we had to leave a passageway to the toilets (at some point you'll see a random guy walking past, lol). Sound quality is crap but whatever, it's footage. Note the lack of stage presence. :D

Learn to get over vocals and a whole world of amazing music will open up to you.

Really what I meant to say was that I'm just used to either shitty or really low growl vocals. I've just come to look past them most of the time.

To each his own, really.

Despite some sloppiness my new song has come out very nicely!

I might up and change the ending completely, but I'm not sure yet. I might post it this weekend for everyone to hear(not download yet)

Right now I'm loving it!
