Well when they're selling for €400 and €500 I doubt I'd have much luck. There have been very few spares and stuff floating about. It's a ridiculously tiny venue, sold out in about 2 minutes. And it'd be a huge waste of time and money to go all the way up just to come out disappointed. I'll catch em next time around, hoping there is a next time around...

Yeah, it was mental. I got onto three different people about tickets. One wanted €300 for a standing, one wanted €400 for two seated and the last wanted €500 for three seated. Asked him what would be the most he'd take for just two of them and he said he "physically couldn't give away two without the third". Idiot. :|

Locking Nathan's thread after Prexa's rant was unawesome. I'm pretty sure we could manage to discuss it without tossing shit at each other.

(Or at least wait with locking for first signs of twattery in discussion)

I don't agree. There were quite a few unsavory blanket statements in her rant regarding Americans, so I was already a tad offended.

I have to keep some sort of level of civility on the board, even if it means a preemptive action on my part before an onslaught of angry PM's from fellow forum members.

I have my 25th birthday coming up really soon, but I don't think anyone remembers it.
I act like I don't mind, but this time of year usually gets me down :(

I agree with BrunoN on this one. Locking it was unnecessary. Could have been really interesting to see where the discussion went on that, and it was an original topic, which have kinda dried up as of late. This is a place for expressing an opinion. Whatever negativity was expressed about America is her opinion on the subject, based on what she'd read/seen/heard through newspapers/tv/internet, etc. It's not like she was trying to push everything she said on as concrete fact or severely insult anyone. She even made that clear so people wouldn't think it and have a spasm. Even if opinion in the discussion is offensive to someone you shouldn't just lock it up and throw the discussion away.

Just my two cents.

Just delete my post? I explicitly stated that everything was an opinion. I was just trying to convey the factors I think contributed to the guy's actions based on what I knew about him (not a lot, basically just his nationality). If me saying America is big and has a lot of people with psychiatric illnesses in it offends you then that's fine, you're the one with the problem. One untoward reply is no reason for you not to let other people respond to Nathan; I'm sure he'll be a bit miffed that nobody else can pass commend on his thread. Locking a thread is absolutely evident of your personal thought-police regime on the boards here. I'm a huge Devy fan and want to know what he's up to, which is the reason I post here and I know this isn't a debate board so I suppose I'll just shut up and not pass comment on controversial things anymore.

YOU ARE 25. WTF.

Seriously, you have to give me some of that majik serum you're taking, I have fucking wrinkles or whatever and I'm not even 19, gah!! My birthday's coming up soon. I'll come to Finlandia and we'll go crazy or something. I'm sure the people who are important will remember your birthday, I didn't even know what date exactly my birthday was until my mid-teens so on my birthday now I basically just see what happens and if it's just another day it's just another day. :)

Hope it's good all the same. :D

If they're blanket statements, then they would be piss easy to refute. Without much flaming I think - while Zyprexa indeed likes to rant, I've also observed she's rather open for civil discussion. You lack faith in us a bit.

And now you have few annoyed posts instead :)

Ok, I'm shutting up already. Maybe it's me who has unrealistic view on people's discussion abilities.

I'm pretty sure she closed it for good reasons:

This is a European majority board. We all know it would have been me, maybe soundsofentropy, and her against a mostly European opinion.

I was keeping myself back from posting because I did not want it to eventually get out of hand.

I know a few Europeans wouldnt have the exact opinion of Prexa, but it would still be mostly a gang up on whoever voiced an opposing opinion....regardless of how "friendly" the argument could be it's still a completely unfair argument at that point.

Normally I'd say it's absolutely ridiculous to lock a thread unless it's staggeringly stupid, in the wrong place, etc. But I have to say I kind of agree--maybe not with locking the thread, but with the intent behind it. Nathan's original post was mostly harmless, and honestly should have been in the "WTF?" thread. Then a few casual replies, followed by an essay regarding the instability of the American public, citing opined evidence (as was admittedly so--not trying to criticize Zyprexa), which on the whole had a rather negative slant towards us on the other side of the Atlantic. Personally, I have to say it seems to me, from media, news, and the like that people are the same all over, and that sociopathic tendencies are found (and are even prevalent) in many places all over the world. There are good, bad, and ugly (pardon the horrid Eastwood joke) everywhere, and to me, the futility of discussing whether one place is better than another based solely on opinionated perspectives and stereotypes is a bit staggering. I want no part--I won't bite. Zyprexa can think/say what she wants, but locked thread or not, I don't think it's worth discussing (ergo, I won't participate).

The post should definitely be deleted. I am sorry because I didn't mean to offend American individuals. I have a view of your country as a whole which is less than conventional and while I'm sure an enormous majority of the American population are lovely, normal, sane, law-abiding people all I see about America on the news is scary demented murder and rape and a general disregard for life. I know this isn't a proper representation of the country because if it was then nobody would live there, but I can't overlook it because I've never seen any evidence to suggest that it's not just a completely weird country that I don't understand properly. I was falling asleep and really grumpy anyway when I went on that rant, so I said some stupid shit which obviously offended people because I was dissing their country.

soundsofentropy wrote:Nathan's original post was mostly harmless, and honestly should have been in the "WTF?" thread.

Completely agree there. Maybe it'd be best to just move the post in question to WTF.

soundsofentropy wrote:sociopathic tendencies are found (and are even prevalent) in many places all over the world ... the futility of discussing whether one place is better than another based solely on opinionated perspectives and stereotypes is a bit staggering.

Also totally agree. Sorry to Americans, I thought I was clear in the fact that I wasn't making a blanket statement; I was trying to say that there are a lot of criminals in your country, not that everyone is a criminal. "The United States has the highest prison population rate in the world, some 738 per 100,000 of the national population". 0.7% isn't even one percent of the population, per capita America would measure up amazingly well.

I don't think many other Europeans are as closed-minded and confused as me in their view of America.
