The movie depresses the hell out of me and makes me feel horrible, but I love it. It does what it is supposed to do.

Really looking forward to this one, so it's good to hear a positive review.

Moon.

Rockwell is fantastic, the Clint Mansell score is gorgeous (obvious, as the guy is a genius, but worth saying) and the film is one of the best sci-fi I've seen in many years. Tight, lean and does everything right with little in the way of deus ex machina like many films pull on you these days.

Saw Paranormal Activity last night. As for 'scariest film of all time', that's obviously highly debateable. But it most certainly achieves what it sets out to do, which is creep the living shit out of you! It's certainly the scariest film I've seen for a LONG time, maybe since Blair Witch (which it definitely draws influence from). And like that movie it's staying with me, if you know what I mean. It also proves that movies that simply build effective tension are WAY more frightening than simple gorefests. Go see PA if you want a SERIOUS scare!

I saw 2012 with my brother, mom, and dad. That was a rollercoater of a movie and never slow down until the end. The movie was insane.

Epic. Utterly brilliant. And it's the first of a trilogy!

I'm really looking forward to this one too...but I am only 1/2 way through the book! I want to know how they could possibly translate this kind of thing in to a film. It's pretty evil...

Hi there Monga, hope you're well. :)

Is the book worth reading? I'm an enthusiastic but casual fan of the apocalyptic/zombie genre, so if it's worth a read I'll definitely check it out. I did read an interview with Viggo Mortensen recently where he mentioned an especially brutal and upsetting sounding scene from the book (which I won't describe here) being filmed but not in the final cut. Sounds very full-on.
