The movie depresses the hell out of me and makes me feel horrible, but I love it. It does what it is supposed to do.

Really looking forward to this one, so it's good to hear a positive review.

I'm really looking forward to this one too...but I am only 1/2 way through the book! I want to know how they could possibly translate this kind of thing in to a film. It's pretty evil...

Hi there Monga, hope you're well. :)

Is the book worth reading? I'm an enthusiastic but casual fan of the apocalyptic/zombie genre, so if it's worth a read I'll definitely check it out. I did read an interview with Viggo Mortensen recently where he mentioned an especially brutal and upsetting sounding scene from the book (which I won't describe here) being filmed but not in the final cut. Sounds very full-on.

Hey Juz! I'm good, thanks. And you?

Well, I'm only half way through so far so I can't judge completely...but I am really fascinated so far. I had just finished another of Cormac McCarthy's books, 'Blood Meridian', which totally blew my mind. The Road is definitely in a similar, very unusual, style. He doesn't use punctuation or identify any of the characters particularly, which is really refreshing to me. There are many very upsetting and distressing moments, and things that I don't really expect them to put in the film, but if they have managed to capture the tone that would be pretty good. I'll let you know if one scene in particular stands out when I finish it.

So, err, yeah...I definitely recommend it! And Blood Meridian too, which is possibly the most evil thing I have ever read. I think they are making a movie of that also, but I doubt anyone could do it justice.

Four thumbs up.

Year One mildly amusing Jack Black movie, some of the jokes were too long and... nevermind. Also Franklyn a boring british movie about insanity, disguised in form of semi-fantasy. No winner this time I'm afraid...

Public Enemies

Seems to jump around a lot (both with persons and events) if you're not familiar with the Dillinger story, so it was a little difficult to follow at first. Pretty entertaining otherwise I thought.

Rockwell is fantastic, the Clint Mansell score is gorgeous (obvious, as the guy is a genius, but worth saying) and the film is one of the best sci-fi I've seen in many years. Tight, lean and does everything right with little in the way of deus ex machina like many films pull on you these days.

Agreed.

Brüno

loved it. It was funny, very offensive and very pollitically incorrect. It's amazing how Sacha Baron Cohen survived this movie. And the audio commentary was very fun to listen to/watch as well. Gives you an even better idea how much effort they put into this movie. Don't know why this movie got so much hate, aside from the obvious 'oh my god, it's too gay' BS reasons.

Inglourious Basterds (again)

this time I watched it in all its original language glory, not the crappy dubbed German version. This movie just won't ever get boring. Love it. 10/10. If Christoph Waltz doesn't get an Oscar for his role in this movie then I'll eat a dildo and shove a pizza up my ass.

The Hangover

VERY funny too. I love how just about everything that can go wrong goes wrong in this movie. I laughed pretty well throughout the entire movie.

Well, we'll certainly be holding you to that one!

I watched RocknRolla, and once again, Guy Ritchie doesn't disappoint. Great, fun little movie. Sure you could say he's just rehashing Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch a bit at this stage but to be honest, I couldn't care less. Thought it was a great movie and am thoroughly looking forward to the sequel!

I read an Ebert review pretty much saying it was the badassest documentary in a long time, and I had to see it. It's unbelievably good for a documentary which is basically one guy talking for 90% of it. To paraphrase Ebert, "You fucking owe it to yourself to see this shit".

S'good... but... meh. Didn't think it was anywhere near as good as what people have been saying. It has 8.7/10 on IMDb so far... some people saying its the best film in the last 30 years.

Nah.

Definately some awesome visuals though... and obviously, definately worth watching.

The Dark Crystal

I found it used at FYE for $6....so i couldn't resist. I HAD to finally see it all the way through.

There is also a special features section, with a documentary on the making of...pretty sweet shit mang.

Verdict: Totally nostalgic and mesmerizing....Loved it. Great music too!

"The Goods...." Funny, funny movie. I laughed.

"Hurt Locker". Do NOT like this movie. Very, very irresponsible film making, in my opinion. The cockiness of SFC James is bad, and sets a bad precedent. EOD guys I know are not like this.
