Yeah, looking at these clips really make me want a live DVD of the solo material one day. I think it'd be simply awesome considering that these clips are this great while being the first gigs he's done in years.

It seems Dev's in his "fuck subtlety" mood post-Addicted. The whole point of Ki, it seems to me, is restraint, and the exploration of tension and relaxation without completely exploding. The live performances of Disruptr so far are just full-on. I wonder if Dev's just thought "fuck it, lets give the metalheads a show, they've got the real one on record" or if he just thinks it sounds better that way. Myself I think it negates the point of the song.

I'm pretty sure he's just adapting the song to it's surroundings. I don't think it would make for that good of an opener in that kind of a show (in audiences view) if it was played in the Ki way.

And I think this version just sounds very good.... And there isn't really even such a big difference to the Ki version in the end. Just the heavier guitar sound really.

Yeah, wait till the full set....it's currently just a way to get Ki heard. Compromise for now for the full deal later.

What's the plan, setlist-wise for NZ, Dev? Any hints? :P

Honestly I think putting a song from Ki in the set was a mistake. Even a heavy one like Disruptr. Don't get me wrong, I'll be seeing the show next week and I'll fully enjoy the song, but I would also fully understand why other people at the show (metalheads) who don't know Devin or any of his music would just not like it at all.

I hear you. It's the sentiment behind the lyrics that I wanted to introduce myself with though...

To be honest, it would be no weirder than having Bad Devil or Vampira in there. It's a different kind of song, and it gets your point across right away. "Sup. This is something I wrote, listen and enjoy." That's pretty much the feeling I get when you open with it, at least. Maybe I'm just a dweeb. ^_^

I think Disruptr is a great opener, regardless of whether it's heavied up to suit a metal show. Th "be a man about it" part and buildup at the end are perfect for a live scenario imo

Really? That's what it's about? Darnit, I was hoping for Green Lantern/Parallax as the hidden meaning.
