First Tuska's lineup, now this...
Oh dear, I should not have looked at the lineup. Have avoided it until now...and now I'm super jealous!!
The lads who run the Freakyfest club night just asked for my monkey labour on the Friday in exchage for a AAA pass.
I think I just pissed myself.
I think I just pissed myself.

I've seen reactions to the Friday headliner range from "OMFG" to "It's official, Bloodstock sucks nowadays".
Me, I'm a casual fan, but not enough to stand around listening to it. They're the kind of band you sit back and listen to on headphones, not standing listening to live.

Going on after Meshuggah won't make it easy for them.

Erm... the line-up is very good indeed, without a question.. but it's damn obvious that you haven't seen too much festival line-ups from whole Europe yet
even seen from an objective point of view.
Hellfest, Brutal Assault, Summer Breeze, Graspop etc. ...

Haha, nah I have checked all of those. I probably wrote that out of excitement, but for me, Bloodstock is the right size meaning that the headliners cut off at bands like Opeth... whereas Hellfest for example, its going up to Deftones, Alice Cooper, Kiss/Motorhead etc. of whome I never listen to cus the bigger rock "classics" as it were aren't my sort of thing. I'd prefer to end a day with 1.5 hours of Opeth, than have all of my favourites go by during the day with 40 minute sets. Bloodstock is the perfect size for these bands to be on the mainstage too, rather than bands like Nile and Bloodbath being kept to smaller stages n whatever, not that it matters that much.
Summer Breeze isn't any better than BOA this year IMO. It has more bands, but Bloodstock's just got a selection of all of the better bands (for me) that are in their line-up.
Brutal Assault does look awesome though.
Graspop is a similar case to Hellfest for me. Sure they have bigger bands, and more of them, but I don't listen to most of them anywhere near as much as I do most of those at BOA.
Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to go to all of them eventually... when money allows me

I'm actually far from impressed. Dev, Bloodbath, Behemoth, and that's about it for bands I would care for.

Well, thats you
For me, there are lots of bands I haven't seen before. Lots of bands I used to really be into (not so much anymore, but drunken singing along to 'those old hits you used to love' is always fun).
Other european festivals aren't usually an option for me though, for money reasons. Until I can start affording them, Ionly really focus on BOA in the UK. Download had an AWEFUL line-up this year for me, and Sonisphere hasn't drawn my attention very much so far.
This year, I have (in order of playing):
tl;dr - There are lots of bands I'm looking forward to seeing.
Day 1:
Rage - Not listened to all that much of theirs, but they were great fun at my first BOA in '06. Definately watching them.
Ensiferum - Used to love folk metal. Always fun watching them for me.
Gorgoroth - Not too bothered musically but haven't seen a trve cvlt black metal band as "full on" as them. Looking forward to it. Atmosphere could be awesome.
Sonata Arctica - At the time of my folk metal love was also my power metal love. Good sing-a-long / headbanging session awaits.
Behemoth - One of my "main" bands. Seen them once before, AWESOME show. So powerful. Cannot wait.
Meshuggah - Never seen them before. One of my favourite bands. Excited for obvious reasons.
Opeth - Seen 3 times before, loved them every time. Another of my favourite bands. Perfect end to the night.
(7/10 bands that day I'm looking forward to seeing... not bad)
Day 2:
Edguy - same case as for Sonata Arctica. A bit of good ol' power metal goes down a treat for me at festivals.
Obituary & Amorphis - Bands worth watching. Crowd for Obituary should be fun.
Devin Townsend - No explanation needed. Never seen before. Favourite artist altogether. I'm very sure I'm going to feel some sort of euphoria. Biggest highlight of the festival.
Fear Factory - Never seen before. Can't wait to see them. Gene and Byron make it even more exciting for me, having missed out on ever seeing SYL.
Children of Bodom - Average music? Slightly sell-out? Not so respectable in the world of metal? Who cares... Fun.
Day 3:
Korpiklaani - Same as for Ensiferum.
Gwar - Worth seeing.
Gojira - Never seen before. Another of my "main" bands. Can't wait.
Bloodbath - Never seen before. Looking very much forward to seeing them.
Cannibal Corpse - Same as above.

If only i could get a flying carpet i'd go. Seriously the lineup is so f*cking CRAZY! Looks like my Itunes Favorite playlist.
Just sunk in, I'm seeing Dev live for the first time in just over a week!!
Holy crep! I don't suppose anyone knows if Anneke is gonna be singing with them seeing as it's their only show here...?
What about Dev doing the signing tent??
XD I'm so excited!!!
