sj_2150 wrote:Saw... you guessed it... Inception. it was a great movie but it wasnt as good as everyones saying it is. definitely worth a watch. predictable in parts. i found alot of paralells between inception and the matrix.

the hype with this movie is like avatar, avatar was crap though. this however is definitely not a classic

It seems to me that big chunk of people who really adore Inception tend to think very highly of themselves, you know what I mean? It's a great "I'm smarter than you"-movie.

That is bullshit imho you don't need as big a brain to understand it as i'm sure you all have heard people saying.

Definitely not as complex as some people have made it out to be, that's for sure.

I've seen a bit of the opposite also - people getting very upset at those who love Inception, almost personally insulted that anyone could really enjoy it. It really does polarise people. Fuck it - I love it and that's enough for me.

I'll be buying the Blu-Ray version when it comes out, but good luck to those who didn't enjoy it as much as I did.

I agree until the Blu-Ray part, but that's because I just don't see myself ever getting one of those. Maybe if I get a better pay increase.
There's an idiot in my office (I have mentioned many times, but he keeps giving material) that falls under the extreme hate for the movie. My guess is that he didn't get it or didn't like the ending, plus he is the type that likes everything spelled out to him. Understandably this film is quickly becoming under threat of being overrated, but that won't change that I still loved it; those who found it ok at least have justifiable reasons. At least it wasn't in 3D.

Fair enough, I only have access to Blu-Ray as we scored a PS3 free with our TV (guess what brand). I wouldn't recommend your rush out and spend your hard-earned on a dedicated BR player if you're happy with your current set-up, but it's a nice luxury.

People will have different reasons for not liking Inception. A few people whose opinion I very much respect don't like Blade Runner, but it's my favourite film of all time. I guess some times opinions just plain differ.

So I saw NY77 a few days ago. Interesting retrospective doco take on what must have been a very intense time and place to be. From time to time it got bogged down in minutae, but as a whole it was pretty enjoyable. Had me wondering if I'd grown up in NY in the 70s, would I have been hip hop, punk or disco, all three or none at all. Also, I like lapels.

I was warned that it was unbelievably fucking poor, which is why I was intrigued to see exactly how bad it is.

Swervedriver, I blame you for everything. :|

I warned you it was awful, so I've no responsibility over your wasted time. :P

If you actually warned me of the true extent of how shit it really is, I'd have probably listened to you. This time only. :P

I was sort of let down by Inception. After seeing enough Nolan movies I know I can always expect a good popcorn muncher from the guy. Buuuut I always feel slightly unfulfilled afterwards. I'm not even sure why. Good story. Good acting... but something is missing. Actually, maybe not every Nolan movie is like that. I loved Batman Begins and The Prestige. But TDK and Inception felt lacking despite good acting and/or clever plot manipulation.

I watched The Secret in Their Eyes a couple weeks ago. Incredibly entertaining... I want to see it again

Interesting - I much preferred The Dark Knight to Batman Begins.

I finally watched Blood Diamond last night (good timing after Naomi Campbell's whiny lies last week).

May positives - pace, action and intensity are all there, Djimon Hounsou is excellent and the film brings a little bit of the obscenities that have gone on in certain African states to the attention of some people in the West. Negatives - cheesy and very heavy handed in places, Leo's accent going missing from time to time, predictable ending.

Overall I enjoyed it.

The Expendables And liked it a lot. Shotgun scene was quite memorable and I quote: "Remember this shit in Christmas" 8)

The Truman Show is awesome. Jim Carey can do anything thrown at him, be it funny, manic, sad, or angry.
And it's amazingly sad because that shit actually happened too.

Exactly why I hated Fight Club. My other half kept telling me to see it because it was apparently a total mindfuck, but I found it boring and predictable, and he didn't like it much when I told him that

I did finally get around to seeing Inception though which was really good. Not really really really 5-star good, but a really good 4-star movie imo. At the beginning I didn't really think it'd be my thing, I'm usually not a fan of action-oriented films, but the plot was good enough to make me want to watch it all. I liked the little side plot elements, but I didn't like how Cobb talks about the significance of his totem after it appears in a scene 20mins earlier, hurt my head trying to think back  I don't think it's a really deep psychological movie though, it explains everything in good enough detail that the average joe can "get" it.

Saw The Expendables last week. Awesome. I love the line Stallone says to Schwarzenegger, "He wants to be president" :D . Sadly the more movies Stallone starts making and acting in, I really can't help but stare and get mesmerized in watching his lips. Makes me wonder what he'll be like a few 10 years or so haha.

Men who stare at goats slightly amusing, that's about all I have to say about this one. Also watched Clash of the titans and enjoyed it lot more at home than in theatre (3D was so crappy that it made movie bit(lot) uneasy to watch).
