Deconstruction & Ghost will be released this year. I have a feeling it will be good, indeed.

Correction: bee vomit. Well not quite, but that end.

Doesn't have the same effect.

Does anyone else think Dev does a bit too much talking at live gigs?

I know it's part of his thing to some degree, and it's usually funny as hell, but sometimes I wish he would just be quiet and focus on the music... or rather give the impression that he is focusing on the music, because talking through half of a song / shouting retarded stuff like "suck buttsicles" or whatever is pretty funny, but does little to add to the quality of the auditory experience to me. :|

If anything I feel it could give the impression (especially perhaps to new listeners) that the music is insuffient on its own as an experience performed live, which is very wrong.

I only saw him live once, and he does like to talk, and I actually mentionned to my buddy how engaging he was with his crowd. But I guess it can get outta hand, and it sometimes disrupts the songs if he goes off tangent in the middle of the song.

Definately not as bad as Mikael Akekfeldt, his talking kinda killed his show last time i saw Opeth.

When he came to Melbourne last year, all the talking he did was between tracks, and most of it was pretty funny (especially when Ziltoid came over the PA and insulted everyone). None of it detracted though in my opinion, and every song was played straight (and still fun).
Though I didn't see the acoustic side show the next night (still doleful about that), from what I heard Dev's talking, burping, and farting was a distraction for some of those that attended (most notably the DJ for a local metal show who walked out before it ended because he couldn't focus on the music). That said, I wish I had gone, and will try and be more vigilant about such events when he next returns.
