The holidays are over and everything is finally back to normal. I almost went insane. :coucou:

Has Bookwyrm posted his voice, yet?

So it appears Kanye West latest album (dark fantasy something) is 1st for 2010 on rate your music. Now even with a certain inaccuracy margin, it means that most people who eventually listened to this album - fans and regular hip-hop listeners of course, but also all the others - rather liked it (just as it means that most people who eventually listened to some Agalloch album - whether fans or regular black metal listeners of course, but also all the others - rather liked it so that it's the second best for 2010).
Which kinda implies that it's an album that's got great potential to please the ears of anyone who's in the mood for a little bit of hiphop (or that 2010 was REALLY depressing musically speaking).
I haven't listened to it but last time I heard anything from him, it was an autotune voice that would painfully cover his apparent inability to hold a note well during a live performance and a rather uninspired song largely based on a repetitive tune by Daft Punk (which is what we call a pleonasm, tee-hee  ).
Anyone among you usually like-minded people have an opinion on this album ?

My guess is for "that album has great potential to please the ears of anyone liking Kanye West". Well, he's popular, isn't he? Radio that's always on in my workplace plays one of his songs all the time, the one about douchebags, with weird synthy solo. It doesn't have (audibly) autotuned vocals, by the way.

Repetitive, why?

Agreed. I'm in a flat spin at the best of times.

But I guess it can get outta hand, and it sometimes disrupts the songs if he goes off tangent in the middle of the song. Definately not as bad as Mikael Akekfeldt, his talking kinda killed his show last time i saw Opeth.

Wow I wouldn't even be able to listen if it was much worse than Devins worst bits. Good job i'm not an Opeth fan.

Bookwyrm83 wrote:When he came to Melbourne last year, all the talking he did was between tracks, and most of it was pretty funny.

Well at bloodstock he did a lot of talking... and a lot of was over the tracks whilst they were playing! Now their was tech problems and whatknot, and he kept everyone entertained till they got going, but seemed to continue talking throughout. As I said, it could give the impression that the sound or music isn't good enough on its own - which is bad! The music is amazing... the sound was overblown... but still it would have been better without half of his talking imo, just made it worse.

Bookwyrm83 wrote:Though I didn't see the acoustic side show the next night (still doleful about that), from what I heard Dev's talking, burping, and farting was a distraction for some of those that attended (most notably the DJ for a local metal show who walked out before it ended because he couldn't focus on the music).

Now I don't know much about Dev, but if he is a non-stop joky character like that backstage too, it could explain some of the tech problems in the live stuff. I've known quite a few funny guys....but they are an absolute pain in the butt to work with. And people remember the bad stuff more than the good stuff I guess.

I dunno, usually he stays on top of it and keeps it about the singing. I was at bloodstock as well, and as far as I can tell, he was just blowing off a lot of steam before he snapped at someone. (Which did happen once or twice at a sound guy.) Maybe catch him again and see how he is, will probably change your opinion of how he acts live.

I find that wearing a jacket to keep you from getting wet has its purpose ultimately defeated when the interior of the jacket becomes wet (even with the zipper closed up to the neck) to the point where it leaves your body drenched, like you weren't wearing a jacket anyway.

You need to wear a jacket while you wear a jacket so you can get wet while youre getting wet

Wow... that's quite a schedule.

Second day of lithium. Meh, it's not doing much at the moment, but it hopefully will soon.

If I don't control my anger I'll either have a stress attack or get fired - hell, both. It would be nice to have a remote like in that movie Click (never saw it, but know the premise), where I could mute people, or if they really deserve it, pause everything and belt them around the head a few times.
It's a good thing such objects don't exist; I'd gladly abuse their power.
Glad I have metal at home.

If you are that angry at work, maybe it would be time to start to look for employment elsewhere?? A job is not usually worth screwing with your health for.
