Microsoft's e3 left much to be desired.

EA's was alright. I'm only grabbing the bits coming from gamesradar down the hall.

Battlefield 3 looks incredible! But I'm sure it won't look all that amazing on consoles. You probably need an insanely good gaming PC! Yeah, I know it's an über-realistic looking war game and blab blab but I will play it anyways. It's just a game after all and in real life I'm a vegetarian pacifist so take that and stick it up your ass, karma!

I'm also impressed with the power of Sony's PS Vita. Uncharted: Golden Abyss looks pretty amazing! I know the 3DS has 3D and all that but I don't really care. 3D is just a gimmick to me that I don't really need and graphically I'm not too impressed with the 3DS. I know graphics aren't everything but when games look that outdated it just makes you think that there was a lot of potential wasted. And I guess the Vita has an HDMI port so it'll probably be possible to play the games on a nice big LCD TV too...sweet! 8)

Watched the extended gameplay vids of Mass Effect 3 on gametrailers.com and I must say I'm pretty impressed! It looks FAR better than ME2 and it seems like they added many improvements to the game when it comes to gameplay. Guess stealth plays a bigger role too. I hope they'll manage to keep the frame rate nice and smooth so it's not ME1 all over again. But so far I'm incredibly psyched about this game and can't wait to see how the trilogy ends.

Oh and I must say that I love all them HD re-releases of games. Yes, it does not always make sense but playing PS2 games on an LCD TV just ain't a lot of fun due to the rather bad visual quality. I did keep my ole tube TV for my old school consoles but the idea of playing Shadow of the Colossus in 16:9 and in HD with a stable frame rate on a nice big LCD screen just makes me drool! Same goes for the Metal Gear Solid HD re-releases, Silent Hill 2 and 3 and the God of War PSP games.

Sorry to bust the E3 excitement, I'm just wondering if someone can help me out, trying to find a new game a to play basically.
Kind of narrowed it down some...

Dead Space 2, I liked the first one ok, but I am no shooter buffs, so I had a tough time at some point in the first one. No gravity walking was annoying too. Is the second better?
Folklore, kinda old for this generation RPG, seems interesting, but reviews are so-so. I have definately had my share of jrpg's and woult not want to play another straight up jrpg.
Two Worlds 2 : another rpg, but I have little info on it.
Yakuza 3: seems like a decent action game.
I was thinking of LA Noire, but somehow I feel like I will not like this game, Rockstar have been hit and miss for a while with me, and I loved RDR, but I hated GTA4.
Castlevania Lord of Shadows, I love the classic castlevania style, and this is a departure from that, so i have not picked it up.

It seems so many AAA or AAAA games this generation or shooters, and it annoys me somewhat. Any help appreciated.
edit : psn titles too, if they are really good, it just seems I mostly never consider them, but Castle Crasher was cool.

Dead Space 2 is good but to me it was kind of dumbed down to a simple corridor shooter compared to Dead Space 1 in my opinion. Zero Gravity works better in the second one but there is also a lot more shooting. So if you're not that much into shooters then you may wanna stay away from it if you just thought the first one was ok.

When it comes to L.A. Noire I can tell you that it is NOT AT ALL like GTA4. GTA4 was an action/open world game. Although there are action sequences in L.A. Noire the focus lies much more heavily on interrogation and crime scene examination. And although its world is open, it's not really a sandbox game where you can mess around a lot. I'd definitely recommend it because it's unlike anything I played before. If anything, it reminds me of old point and click adventures.

Castlevania LOS is pretty good actually, it is VERY challenging though if you just play it on the normal difficulty setting. And it mostly does not feel like a classic Castlevania game untill you're about halfway through the game. Prior to that it kind of feels like a fantasy game with goblins and such. But it is good, much more challenging than any God of War game and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Can't tell you anything about the other games you mentioned but the Yakuza games have always looked interesting to me.

Wow, Nintendo's kicking butt this year. :D

I had heard that the new "console" had controllers with touch screens and stuff but I think they've put more thought into it than I expected them to. I really love the feature where if you're playing a game on the telly, and someone wants to watch the news, you can take your game that you're playing on the TV, swap it over to your handheld screen and continue where you left off, while the old man gets his fill of local happenings. The age-old fights between gaming kids and their parents over the TV...what a great solution.

The two things that I gathered about Wii U (as they're calling it, goddamn I hate these names) though, that didn't seem to be confirmed, are:

1. The focus was on the controller, never heard a mention of whole other console hardware, also you can use existing Wii accessories (Wii wheel, Wii zapper, Wii balance board etc) with it, I'm thinking it's an add-on for the existing Wii console? I hope so, since I already have all that crap. :P

2. It will likely be really fucking expensive. Thinking back, I don't recall seeing any example of multiple Wii U controllers being used together in multiplayer situations, although you can use it in conjunction with Wiimotes. I'd say the focus is going to be on single-player and online multiplayer, whether or not that's because of the price tag or not...I guess we'll just wait and see. I'd say Nintendo are aware that if it's going to cost a bundle people aren't realistically going to fork out for more than one. It's some mental hardware for just a controller, though, so it's gotta be worth a fair bit. I just don't see them selling for say $300 when that's what you pay for a Wii console itself...it'll be interesting to find out, for sure.

Wii U? Seriously?

Sounds like an ambulance siren.

I kinda get the gimmick feel from the Nintendo Wii U, and it's controller, but the motion craze left me totally unimpressed.
And that controller is just huge, and does not look very confortable. Gotta wonder how much the controller will cost as well.
Other than the controller and knowing the console can do HD, as any other info leaked?

Also, decided to go with Castlevania LOS and Yakuza 3.. for 50$ it's a gamble I'm willing to take.

Wow, it must be as complicated as pong then - aside of being stylish and gruesome first DS was run of the mill third person corridor shooter. Unless I missed some massive, strategy-filled hidden part.

In other news, I'm re-playing The Witcher 2 already, this time siding with Scoia'tael. Which means more uptight elves and more dick-themed jokes uttered by dwarves. Nice!

well, in DS1 you at least had to do a bit of back tracking which some people may not like but I prefer that compared to just walkling forward through corridors in 95% of the cases. In the first game you felt more isolated and alone and I think there was at least a bit more survival horror in that game. DS2 has a better presentation but all you do is walk forward through narrow corridors with few exceptions. That is kind of what annoyed me about Alan Wake as well. Both games kind of felt like old side scrolling games where you just walked into one direction. And yeah, like I said...DS2 is focusing a lot more on action than suspense. Plus there's basically no real boss battles in DS2. So my conclusion would be, if you did not like DS1 or thought it was just OK, you'll probably not like DS2 at all.

as for the Wii U, I will have to wait and see if there's any gameplay vids of games for that console yet. I only followed the IGN live blog. But sounds like there's at least going to be a whole lot of hardcore games and not just casual crap for the Wii U. My concern is that it won't really be more powerful than the PS3 or Xbox which means that as soon as both companies release their new consoles in a few year, Nintendo will be stuck with its ancient hardware once again.

Not sold on the WiiU. That controller with a screen just looks uncomfortable to me. Like holding an iPad for too long or something. I do like the idea of it though, being able to play your game on that or a TV.

Also doubt they will have any franchises that will sell me on it. What I've seen of Skyward Sword DOES look good, and is probably the only thing in Nintendo's corner right now, in my opinion.

Lack of Deus Ex/Skyrim/Dead Island makes it easy to forget about the WiiU.
