Die Hard 2

It's no secret that I'm a Bruce Willis fanboy. As such, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It's not as good as the first by any standard, and lacks the original's pace and structure. However, the story is solid, and it's genuinely funny most of the time. The only thing I was looking for was Willis' trademark character. You can really get a sense of how bad DH4 is when comparing it to 1 and 2.

Super
For those unaware of the film, Rainn Wilson plays Frank, an awkward, unhappy man whose wife leaves him for a drug baron. He believes God has chosen him to be a superhero, and so becomes The Crimson Bolt, whose powers are psychotically maiming criminals and other wrongdoers on sight. His "kid sidekick" is Libby (Ellen Page), a hyperactive comic shop worker with a crazy streak of her own. His wife (Liv Tyler) is a relapsing drug addict who is seduced by Jacques (Kevin Bacon), the aforementioned drug baron, who is both charming and nasty. And Rob Zombie plays the voice of God.
This is a sweet film, very funny ("Shut up crime!" is one of many great one-liners), often moving, and quite happy to exploit gory violence, plus other weird or disturbing sequences. Comparisons with Kick-Ass are as inevitable as they are pointless. It's like comparing Batman with Iron Man - similar premises, very different direction. It isn't a perfect movie, but it doesn't pretend to be, and that keeps it enjoyable. 7/10.

Season of the witch Despite rather bad reviews (Rotten Tomatoes tomatometer, critics 8%), I decided to watch this since trailer looked actually quite good. No masterpiece but still pretty entertaining little movie, Nicholas Cage is actually very subtle in his role and Ron Perlman is always good addition in cast. Not sure how would I rate this but definitely better than 8%.

Captain America
The first 40 minutes are great, it's when he starts being Captain America that the slide downwards starts.
A great telling of his origin story though.
Decent summer blockbuster kind of movie, but nothing special.

too many to write a lot about each of them. But I've recently watched Hellraiser 1 & 2 (both on Blu-ray), Hellraiser Inferno and Hellraiser Hellseeker, Spider-Man. Spider-Man 2, Emo-Man 3, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Rango and 127 hours. Enjoyed each of them. Yeah, Even Hellraiser 5 and 6 that are pretty decent for direct to DVD flicks and I even dig Emo-Man...errr...I mean Spider-Man 3 despite its flaws and yeah, there are quite a few in it. But I love Spidey.

The emo-transformation is probably one of the most unintentionally-hilarious things I've seen in a movie. :D

I found so much to enjoy about that movie, I walked away wishing all that awesomeness hadn't been invested in such a 2nd rate superhero. It looks so fantastic, as you day the set up is great fun, Hugo Weaving is a kick arse bad guy and all the design is so great. Love the addition of that ... Other superhero... (don't wanna spoil it). And that Evans kid is a good, charismatic lead (wife loved him).

But then it becomes the story of a weirdo dressed up like he's a bit touched, throwing a frisbee at dudes with guns.

Even so I thought it was a quality popcorn movie overall.

Re-watched 'Requiem For a Dream' the other night. Holy bawls. That movie has more depth and is more heartbreaking each time you watch it. It's Definitely my favorite of Aronofsky's. The directing is very unique in a way that it sort of puts you in the Point of View stance of character without actually ever seeing things through their eyes. Clint Mansell also adds to it with the ever-so iconic and epic score. One of the best (maybe the best) scores I've ever head. The acting is great. I'm not particularly fan of Jared Letto, but he he did a great job in that flick.

Before that I watched Cronenberg's 'Videodrome'. It was a great. I love James Woods, Debby Harry actually does a great job, the special effect were cheesy, but in a way I liked. It was also pretty unique in terms of plot. If anyone is a fan of this movie, I suggest listening to Freak Kitchen's 'See you in Pittsburgh' and 'The New Part', both inspired by the movie. Any fans of it will be pretty giddy hearing the references in there.

Tried to watch 'Iron Man 2', couldn't really get into it. I loved the first one, but this one didn't really pull me in.

A friend of mine tried to show me 'Bully'. The characters all just made me really sad. Turned it off about half way in.

Yup they got all their correct pieces in order, set up a great introduction to the caracter, and then, well they kinda Michael Bay-ed it.
It's decent, and in line with other recent super hero flicks like Thor and Iron Man 2.

Troll Hunter

Probably the most fun with found footage I've seen in a movie. Great troll effects, good acting and direction; note-worthy for it's treatment of troll legend, plot twists and satire towards the documentary presentation. A lot of it is funny, but there are some good thrills to be had as well. Even those who don't care for subtitles should be able to enjoy this movie (I don't have a problem with them, but I can understand why some do). If you haven't seen it, watch all the way through the end credits; a good in-joke awaits. 8/10.

First Black Death pretty average medieval flick. Oh, it has Sean Bean on it, playing knight...once again, and dying once again. At least he takes it like a man every time.
Then it was time for some trains, Unstoppable. Nice cast, huge trains and all sorts of mayhem and still I'm bit meh.

Also recently watched The Lord of the Rings extented trilogy on BD, enjoyed extra bits and atmosphere. Would make great marathon to watch all parts back to back 8)

The Adjustment Bureau Despite what many said, it was very enjoyable. As a concept, the whole thing about there being an organisation of beings that control human lives is fascinating. Phillip K Dick got the sentiment right, but the movie didn't do it justice. Still, I'm a sucker for this kind of story, so I liked it. It was a battle to get past all the romance, though.

Ah dude, I know Black Death is hardly a major movie but maybe avoid the huge spoilers involving the death of major characters? Or at least chuck in a spoiler warning next time.
