Because he helped bring the whole concept of a personal computer into general use back in the 70s so you and I can sit here and look at a screen that has a 'friendlier' feel to it. We might not be doing that right now otherwise.

Ah ok. I was only thinking about last 5 years and my experiences with iPod's. Helping out Pixar also kicks major ass.
But still the guy was the head of biggest corporation on the planet and openly against charity. A hero.

Or maybe he doesn't do so publicly as a means of trying to generate publicity. I don't remember anything about him being anti charity.

To be fair I have to say that the vast majority of articles and comments I have read about Jobs since he died have made no secret of the fact that he could be ruthless, difficult etc and that as a man he had some significant faults.

But as mentioned he's also helped shape modern society by having the vision to make technology user friendly in a way that no one else could have.

Even if you hate the companies he presided over and all that, his ideas live on in almost all of our daily lives, whether we like it or not.

Well, I'm going to call the taxpeople tomorrow and ask them for mercy. I'm so nervous I might pee in my pants. Wish me good luck? I think I might need some. Maybe I'll become a little Christian and pray a little. Won't hurt, right? Ohmygod so nervous. Time to get some sleep, good night everybody. :)

Been uber-busy with brutal work hours. Good news is I've now got a new and improved job, as assistant manager at one of the more non-profit-able (shall I say) thrift stores in the area. It's a pun. It makes sense to me. I'm thrilled about it as my soon-to-be former workplace is poisonous, and I'm ready for something positive and healthy, so yay!! Yet more insane busy hours to ensue in the next couple of weeks. Just glad I got a short break today. Haven't accomplished anything other than listening to music. . . Yes, it has been a good day.

Yeah exactly, and the same can certainly be said of most people who were involved in the advent of computers. Seen Pirates of Silicone Valley? Bill Gates was insanely ruthless.

ixnay on the appyhay irthdabay!...we're ignoring him!

Oh! err...haha! Umm...Happy Birthday James!
Er...yeah. heh.

Meanwhile: the most cogent words I've read in a while:
Paul Krugman, The New York Times wrote:A weary cynicism, a belief that justice will never get served, has taken over much of our political debate. In the process, it has been easy to forget just how outrageous the story of our economic woes really is. So, in case you've forgotten, it was a play in three acts.

In the first act, bankers took advantage of deregulation to run wild, inflating huge bubbles through reckless lending. In the second act, the bubbles burst - but bankers were bailed out by taxpayers, with remarkably few strings attached, even as ordinary workers continued to suffer the consequences of the bankers' sins. And, in the third act, bankers showed their gratitude by turning on the people who had saved them, throwing their support behind politicians who promised to keep their taxes low and dismantle the mild regulations erected in the aftermath of the crisis.

Referring to the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Happy b'day fellow member!

On a side note, I'm starting to wonder:

If there was a way to predict future apocalyptic events with music, I'd say Meshuggah is the best option for just that.

Yep, Its a Meshuggah night for me.
