One of the first cassette tapes I bought with my own pennies as a 10 year old kid was a Gary Glitter album. Many years later I saw him on stage at a Fresher's Ball in Edinburgh.. he was fat and generally uncool by that stage. However, I still like one or two of his old tunes as they are wrapped up in my early music memory. The music of the past doesn't change because the guy is creepy. That's like accusing my 10 year old self of being a paedophile supporter.

Speaking of which, my department has this year scrapped the name Christmas as it wasn't inclusive. It's the end of year celebration now. I mean, fucked if I care really cos I'm not going anyway, but the same organisers will be continuing with events based on all sorts of other religious and cultural jiggery pokery. WTF? Surely it's all or nothing? This was raised with them and the silence was deafening.

Screw Polanski. If people want to pay to see his films that's cool. Personal choice. But I won't give him a cent. I guess I could just download them. What's he going to do, take the moral highground?

I'm more ambivalent towards Polanski. On the one hand, what happened with that girl was downright shameful. On the other hand, I pity him for what happened to Sharon Tate. Just as well I've only seen two of his films, and they happened before his abuse case (Rosemary's Baby and Macbeth). Similar boat to Keeker, in a way.
