He's been doing stage stuff. Dude's going to be around for a long time.

I like him, seems pretty switched on.

Did a surprisingly decent Aussie accent back in 2007 in December Boys. Not perfect but it's a tough accent to get just right.

Sweet little movie, nothing much to it but there are worse ways to pass a couple of hours. And he's better in it than he is in Harry Potter.

I have the original version on DVD. I love that movie! Dark sci-fi, almost Clive Barkerish. I'd like to see the Director's Cut tho!

if you got a Blu-ray player then pick up the Blu-ray. It contains the theatrical and the Director's Cut. Very much worth it. But I guess you folks in the US (and probably everyone else except for us Germans) can get the Director's Cut on DVD too.

Also: The final cut of Blade Runner on Blu-ray. Holy fuck! Holy fuck is all I can say!

also, if you look at my avatar you might know which other movie I watched recently. Nope, it wasn't The Passion of the Christ.

Nooo, I don't have a Blu-ray. I don't update anything until something breaks. And I don't know what your avatar is, but I'll probably slap myself when you enlighten me.

well, sooner or later it will happen. Then you won't ever wanna watch a DVD again. I'm so freaking spoiled but each time I pop in one of my old DVDs I'm like 'oh man, that looks horrible...wonder if this movie is available on Blu-ray too' and off to the internet I am  Fuckin online shops.....

Bookwyrm83 wrote:^The Big Lebowski

I presume that is also a worthy Blu-Ray purchase?

ding ding ding...we have a winner! And actually I think it is a worthy BD purchase. Well, some people complain about the picture being too soft because too much digital noise reduction was applied to it. But too be honest with you, it didn't bother me. The movie looks great overall with great, rich colors. And there's plenty of all new bonus material too!

Finally Avengers and by puny god it was good! There is no question about it, certainly going to find it's way to shelf once released in BD. Loved it!!!

Apocalypse Now (theatrical cut) on Blu-ray. That movie just gets better each time you watch it. What a trip. And what a great HD transfer for a movie that is over 30 years old. I'm not trying to sound like a vegetarian hippie douche but I still hate to watch the cow scene in the end, heh.

Predictably I saw Avengers (or Avengers Assemble!) and it was pretty good. Cheesy and silly but really good fun. As I had heard, Hulk kind of made the film!

I'm waiting for Avengers VS Justice League next!

Dark Shadows.

Not as camp as I had anticipated (though it was silly in parts). A lot of it was funny, though a good deal of the humor was fairly dark. Johnny Depp played Barnabas Collins like a more benevolent Sweeney Todd, and managed to be entertaining throughout. Watching him discuss love with a circle of hippies was one of the highlights.
The rest of the cast did well, Eva Green in particular. She knows how to play a nasty bitch. The Christopher Lee and Alice Cooper cameos were fun. The only real complaint is that the final showdown could have felt stronger, though it was decent enough. The final scene was also predictable, though if they make a follow up film, it might be interesting.
Not a perfect film, but better than I thought it would be, and worth checking out.
