Ugh, yeah. My friends' band even wrote a song about it called Valve (Time Is A Lie).

Portal 2 was just on sale on steam for just under seven bucks, and I got the first one free on steam when they had some promotion thing going late last year. If you can hold out, steam is generally pretty good with stuff like that and I'm sure they'll have sales again soon. I think I've seen them get discounted maybe three or four times in less than a year. They're not really expensive games anyway, especially Portal 2 which I'm pretty sure is like $20 and now that the map editor and everything has been released, you're getting tons more bang for your buck. I don't really get why you'd have a problem with buying them separately, though.
