watched The Thing, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Smoke on BD the past few days. Loved each movie as usual. I actually watched The Thing with enabled audio commentary by John Carpenter and Kurt Russell which was pretty entertaining and informative.
Saw Submarine the other night. Was really kinda brutal but cute throughout. Kinda disappointed that it had a happy ending to be honest.
Salute of the Jugger Now this is a little gem, set in mad max style post-apocalyptic world it tells a story of team of juggers. There is a brutal game played with dog skull resembling footbal and some younger players (Joan Chen, Vincent D'Onofrio) who want the attention of the League. Rutger Hauer is spot on as team captain Sallow. Brutal and effective.
Apocalypto, finally. Amazing movie. Beautiful, graphic. Current mental state aside, Gibson makes great movies. Braveheart is still my all-time fave.
Smarmosaurus.
Prometheus yesterday in glorious 2D. Well, bottom line first is that I liked it, a lot. Still, perhaps expectations were too high as I thought that it could have been so much...better or slightly different. Can't really put my finger on those problematic points, maybe I should go and see it again. It may well be that theatrical cut is too mainstream and there is director's cut to come, or I hope so.
MIB 3 in 3D. It's no better or worse than earlier two, it's just MIB.

Ooooh. I may get a chance to see a movie or two this weekend and I'd kill to see this but I'd have to convince my other half, who saw the trailer and thought it looked a little too creepy for her tastes.
And it's Ridley Scott, of course there will be a director's cut!
House Of Numbers
HIV denialist film. I'm not prepared to say something as strong as "HIV doesn't exist" but this documentary brought up some compelling information about how HIV diagnoses are unreliable and vary from country to country. It also talks about the hazardous effects of HIV drugs and posits some alternative hypotheses about why the disease known as AIDS might exist. Thought provoking film that should be watched by everyone.

District 9. I felt so bad for the aliens.
Smarmosaurus.
Prometheus, in IMAX 3D.
Well, in terms of the 3D effects, I

Prometheus : I'm among those who think it is a big steaming pile of shit.
Totally incoherent mess from start to finish.
All the pretty negative reviews on Imdb pretty much sum up my thoughts. Don't go see it if you have a hard time suspending your disbelief...
Kinda contains spoilers, though it's not like you don't see everything coming a mile away...
Let's go to this remote planet where there may be advanced lifeforms, get to know each others 10 minutes before landing, not even bother doing a scan while we're in orbit, wander randomly through valleys until (which means 5 minutes) we find by chance something that's not natural, land just a couple of meters from it while we don't know what it is and if there's life, planetary defenses, whatever, jump out of the spaceship to visit the thing like little kids going to the amusement park, without the least professional scientific rigor or exploration procedures, quickly remove our helmets cuz a little electronic device said the air is breathable, get lost in a place MY OWN laser device scanned into a very detailed 3D hologram and while I'm supposed to be in contact with the spaceship crew who have said hologram just at hand, push on every button like a kid, and so on, and so on, and... so... on... and...
And again, absolutely NO sense of pace, or time, or whatever. It seems like everything happens in 24 hours. WTF ? Seriously ? Give us some time to love the characters, make us feel like they are passionate about their discovery ! That there are bonds growing between them ! "Oh no ! I just traveled 2 years in space to discover signs of another species, but it seems like there all dead (assumption based on the fact they have explored like 10km

Three movies, first the good one: The Grey Not perfect but some pretty intense moments, could benefit from some tightening in lenghtwise though. Liam Neeson can be quite badass, and here he pulls it off nicely.
Then waste of time.... The Rum Diary Boring mostly, upside there is one funny moment and Amber Heard. Not much then... And finally Catch .44 Holy shit Batman, what's wrong with Bruce Willis doing these shitty flicks (remember Setup...? Don't worry, no one else does either and I wish I didn't...), can't be the money. Anyways, maybe it was meant to be next Pulp Fiction or something but doesn't come even close. Avoid, please.

Yeah Prometheus in 3D on the weekend.
I dunno... I both enjoyed it and was immensely disappointed by it.
The plot was so formulaic and predictable in so many respects. I just... I think I need to digest it some more, and see it again some time.

gosh, I wish I could at least say I've seen it. But it's not gonna be in theaters here until August!
And speaking of Prometheus. I read today that there could indeed be an extended version with 20 minutes of extra content. Not that anyone's surprised since it is a Ridley Scott movie after all. But his Director's Cuts do tend to be the better versions.

^This is true.
A friend of mine and I are going to see it tonight (in 2D). Now that I've had time to digest (even the bugging ending makes sense with reflection), I wish to see it again to verify my true opinion of it. And hey, whatever gets me out of the flat, right?
