Wrath of the Titans Ok, I have a little soft spot for this kind of nonsense 8) But still it was dissapointing, while first movie wasn't greatest ever made it has some redeeming values (good/interesting characters, big monsters and well thought action) and these are the very same points that this movie lacks. Monsters are bit left overish, sidekick characters aren't interesting or funny, even the big baddie in the end is bit meh at best... It's just mediocre sequel.

Saw Ted today. It was hilarious, and had a pretty good story. Loved the lines they gave to Mila Kunis. The Flash Gordon scenes were brilliant.
Naturally best enjoyed by Seth MacFarlane fans. If you're not a fan, results may vary.

Watched it with my sister, who is a major Family Guy/Cleveland Show/American Dad nut. She thought it was just like a non-animated version of Family Guy where Peter Griffin has a personality disorder and is a CGI bear. I got the distinct impression that Seth McFarlane is obsessed with the 80s, couldn't pass up the excuse for a really half-assed action-movie violence and has never ever seen a film that would constitute as remotely high-brow. The plot was a trainwreck; incredibly clich

I'm seeing it again with a friend on Tuesday. The stock exchange scene is a beauty.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in glorious 3D. Yet another view to vampire genre and definitely not the worst either. 3D is bit annoying at times but otherwise well done. If I have to rate it, I would go with 3/5 and that with very positive vibe.

After we got home, watched Underworld : Awakening. Kate Beckinsale is back which is GOOD, unfortunately that is only redeeming factor with this sequel. Somehow it feels like prologue to next part, bit like stretched short film. In my opinion weakest Underworld movie.

and the movie madness goes on...

most recently I watched The War of the Worlds, I, Robot, Total Recall (the original, remastered), The Mist, Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions, Spawn, Jaws (hell yeah, my Blu-ray arrived 2 days early) and last but not least...Prometheus.

most of them were excellent, a few of them...well, not so much, heh. Spawn on Blu-ray looked better than the movie probably deserves. Yeah, it really ain't the best movie based on a comic book. But at least you can see that they sorta tried. Sorta. Kinda.
Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions also are not really fantastic movies and no where near as good as the first one. Actually they were a little worse than I remembered them to be. They aren't complete train wrecks (or the Exorcist 2 has made me incredibly bullshit resistant) but they could have been sooooooooo much better. Maybe they just shouldn't have been made.
The War of the Worlds (the one with Tom Cruise) and I, Robot were both fun to watch, 'I, Robot' being more enjoyable to me. And it is really beautiful on Blu-ray.
Total Recall was fun as usual and looked much better in this newly remastered edition. There's quite a few new extras to be found too, including a pretty neat half hour long interview with Paul Verhoeven.
And today I was nicely suprised when my copy of Jaws on Blu-ray arrived several days early. And boy does it look good. The team that restored the movie did one hell of a good job and the movie looks better than it ever has and probably won't ever look any better. And it was so much fun to watch it again after I have not watched it in quite a while.

Well and last but not least...I finally saw Prometheus in theater last week and absolutely loved it. I honestly can't really understand most of the shit that's being thrown at the movie. It did not seem any less logic than other movies to me. Sure there's people that do silly things in this movie but people do silly things in movies all the time.
Spoiler: show
Remember when Kane touched the Alien egg in Alien, then the facehugger gave him a good french kissing and when he was awake again the crew just went ahead and had dinner with him without putting him in quarantine? Yeah, bad decision...
There's all sorts of stuff that people declared to be not logical. Like the engineer does not die in the same seat where the Nostromo crew finds him in Alien. Well, the Prometheus crew is on LV-223 and the Nostromo crew is on LV-426 so it is quite logical. So yeah, can't say I had any trouble understanding the movie and can't say I detected major plotholes that kept me from enjoying the movie.

So yeah, I absolutely loved it. This was also the first 3D movies I have seen that actually got the 3D right. The opening sequence alone made my jaw drop. Can't wait to own this movie on Blu-ray.

About Prometheus, I wonder how Dan O'Bannon would have reacted to the film, especially to the

too bad we'll never know but I personally love that idea. We'll have to wait and see if they actually do shed some more light on that in the following movie(s).

Maniac remake, starring Elijah Wood as Frank.
Actually quite impressive, with similarities to the original (including a great shot which pays tribute the 1980 poster) but enough of it's own twists to stand alone. Telling it entirely from Frank's point of view makes it quite claustrophobic and at times startling.
Wood plays a killer that is both sympathetic and genuinely chilling. Even though you mostly see his face in reflections, the P.O.V. shots with his voice struggling to maintain control makes it feel like your in his head, which is more effective than a third person view. While some scenes do have that cheesy slasher-film feel about them, many are quite dark and effective. The gore scenes, while plenty nasty, don't overstay their welcome, either.
One I'd recommend, though I gotta say, comparing it to the original is almost like comparing an apple to an orange.

The Hunger Games Too long and quite boring, I'll bet that teenage girls like this though. Maybe I should try reading original story as books are normally better than movie adaptations.

The Raid - Redemption Action from Indonesia and not bad either, some fight scenes felt bit stretched but otherwise worked just fine. Some pretty brutal scenes too.
