I did wonder why you kept appearing on XBL today. Productive sick days, I see? :P

Ain't nothing like hunting dragons with half your orifices leaking continuously.

I thought Irish crowds were the worst pricks for talking at gigs but the crowd at the Hammersmith Apollo on Tuesday night for Gotye take the prize for the biggest cacophony of cunts I've ever had the misfortune to stand amongst at a show. Is this never shutting the fuck up and genuinely acting the maggot a normal thing at English gigs or did I just happen to catch a bad one? There was one bitch behind us as well right up at the front fucking happily smoking cigarettes for about half the gig and we couldn't figure out where it was coming from until someone flipped out big shtyle at her behind us... Such a fucking awful crowd put a real dampener on what was otherwise a fucking brilliant gig.

I got hit on at m first gig so I don't know. I think it depends on how many people are there and who they are there to see.

I find that the bigger crowds (especially festival crowds) here yield the biggest ratio of jerk-offs, talkers and general idiots there to strut their stuff. Of course there are cases where bigger crowds aren't so bad (Iron Maiden was one) but people tend to be less annoying at a smaller venue. Not angels by any definition, but more tolerable than at a bigger gig.

This wasn't really a huge gig though... it was Gotye, and it was a spillover gig after the show on the Monday night sold out. On Monday I was at Bon Iver in a venue that holds something like 14000 people in Dublin and you could hear a pin drop from the crowd during that gig it was so quiet. Then I went to Gotye with maybe 1000 people and they just never shut the fuck up. They even booed him when he said he was gonna play some nice quiet songs. I just don't get why people would pay 30 to 40 quid for a gig and then just treat it like a night in the pub and have a retardedly loud chat while the band is on.

It's like people who go to the cinemas and talk during the movie. They're fuckheads, no particular reason why, they just do it without caring who it inconveniences. Of course, it's an inconvenience for them if you call them out on it.
Still, sorry to hear your night was spoiled by that bunch.

Damn dude. I suppose you can get as much information on this place as possible; if it is a scheme, you can take your friend aside and try to help her see through it, presuming she'll listen. I honestly don't know what else to suggest that doesn't make you look like a jerk in a sitcom. Best of luck.

Visited (one of my) grandmothers today in the hospital. She broke her upper right arm 10 days ago, which can't be fixed or mended in any way other than hoping it heals by itself. But since she's 92 years old it'll never be the same as it was, so it is quite probable she may not be able/allowed to return to her own home but instead has to move to a full nursing home, whereas her current home is assisted living (more independence and privacy). In addition to that she caught quite a bad cold, and due to her inability to move by herself her circulation is so bad that her right arm has sort of swollen and is turning purple. Not a pretty sight, and not a happy visit. With how bad her condition and mindset were today, I am not sure we'll be celebrating her 93rd birthday. :\
