It's difficult to make someone see the bigger picture when they're focussed intently on one small piece. Better that you make her cry, and think, than leave her to get sucked into a bad situation.

Thanks for the support guys and gals. Glad to report she's actually doing much better, given the circumstances. Doctors even saw that the break was beginning to heal, so seems like good news all around fortunately.
