The Hobbit in glorious 3D HFR. Finally 3D movie where action scenes actually work without going too much blur, and in general one of the best 3D movies that I have seen. Maybe tad too long although it didn't feel tiring, luckily I'm one of those who don't get any problems caused by 3D glasses even if I have to wear normal glasses under them.

I liked HFR effect a lot. First everything seemed to be bit speed up to normal but that wears off quickly and then it's just fucking great, more of that please.

The Hobbit and Skyfall. I enjoyed both...particularly The Hobbit because the theater seats rocked back and forth.
Hope to see Les Mis this week.

Yes. Yes. At least at that one particular theater. They also had a cafeteria-style snack bar, so you didn't have to wait in line for 15 minutes.

time for the Ridley Scott Sci-Fi triple feature of awesome!

First I rewatched Prometheus, this time with enabled audio commentary by the master himself. I could honestly listen to him for hours and hours and not ever get bored because it's so informative and you can just feel his passion for film making and that he's a perfectionist. Loved the past where he goes like "after so many years in the business there's still people who ask you why you are doing this and that and it's usually people who are much younger than you and you just want to tell them to fuck off".

Then I watched the entire bonus material which was a blast. If this one doesn't win at least a few 'Blu-ray of the year' awards then something's wrong. It took me days to get through the making of segment and then there was still a ton of stuff to watch.

After that it was time to rewatch Blade Runner (for the 13th or 14th time on Blu-ray this year). I don't know what it is but I could probably watch this movie every day and I wouldn't get tired of it. The new 4K master (well, it's a few years old now, I guess) makes the HD transfer look stunning and I still can't believe how fantastic this movie looks now. Absolute movie perfection, to me anyways and it's my all time favorite movie. And what an amazing soundtrack too.

And last but not least I watched Alien with enabled commentary by Scott, producers, writers and actors and that was a whole lot of fun too. Very informative and partly quite funny. And Alien looks simply stunning on Blu-ray, not just considering how old it is but also compared to movies that are not as old, again thanks to a new 4K master. Again, it just shows what a perfectionist Ridley Scott is.

Total Recall and this would be extended director's cut on BD. Comparison to 1990 version is pointless since this is completely different movie. Well, whore with three tits is back but still... Visually great, otherwise your standard action movie with oddly lame wibe. Can't really pinpoint where the problem is but this just lacks that something, it's not too bad but not really great either. Oh well, Kate Beckinsale is always nice.

The Hobbit ! Ha ! Should I rant about the boring action scenes ? Lack of credibility of the action even if it's fantasy ? Useless scenes ? Ugly FX ? Poor script ? Lack of character development and empathy ?

Or maybe I'll just say that OK, I was entertained for a couple hours (felt sleepy and bored more often than I wished though), but the movie has unforgivable flaws considering such a background and budget

Killer Joe-love it. Despite the one scene EVERYONE loves and complains about, there is actually another scene earlier that made me feel really uncomfortable that I feel people tend to overlook. If you see it, you will probably recognize both scenes. This is technically the second time this year that Matthew McConaughey has impressed me (the first being Magic Mike).

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney)-saw it again in whole for the first time in over a decade. Despite some poor decisions *cough*gargoyles*cough*, it still is pretty much the best Disney animated film ever made.

Never saw it until last night. Actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Of course, Liam Neeson rarely fails. I might just skip the sequel, though.

Memento

Saw it for the first time actually, despite having known about its legacy for quite some time. A lovely mindfuck. Certainly not the last time I'll see it.

Saw Django Unchained on Christmas Day and Les Miserables the following day. Django was Tarantino through and through, but I'm a Taratino fan so I liked it. Not his best, but still really good and he finally made his blaxploitation film. Funny in all the best spots too.

Les Miserables was incredible-- well acted, sung, and beautifully shot. Anne Hathaway absolutely killed it, especially in O Dreamed a Dream. It had a few pretty minor flaws, but overall just a beautiful, touching film. The opening scene Just blew me away. Gonna definitely win some Oscars, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it take best picture.
