It was well made, but I think you could do with just watching the trailer. It was basically just the trailer stretched over 2.5 hours.

it is really great indeed. I want to get Naked Lunch next, that one is just as fucked up. There's not many people that do 'fucked up' as well as Cronenberg.

Two movies yesterday; Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning and Resident Evil: Retribution. Very similar movies, both are total rubbish. Some minor differences though, UniSol is more graphic and brutal in violence and RE is more action packed. Still, I would like to have that 3,5hours spent back please, with interest. Avoid, please.

Richard Elfman's 'Forbidden Zone'

WTF?!?! This movie melted my brain. Any movie I'll watch from now on will seem totally normal from now on, no matter how bizarre. This movie has to be the most bizarre one I've ever seen. It's like Alice in Wonderland, the Wizard of Oz and Monty Python drowned in a pool of LSD. I kept laughing throughout the movie because it was so incredibly nuts and over the top and felt quite entertained. This movie is hard to rate because you can't compare it to anything or judge it by normal standards. I really dug it though, somehow.

Howard the Duck

yeah, this movie is probably one of the biggest flops ever and people have always thrown plenty of shit at it. But I personally have always enjoyed it and consider it to be one of my childhood favorites, even if it's not really a movie for kids. The special effects were pretty well done considering when the movie was made and the whole concept of the movie is so absurd and out there that I just can't help but love it. The German Blu-ray release is very much worth the money if you care for the format and the movie. Looks great in HD.

Halloween 3

See, this is another movie where I never really understood all the hate it received. Sure, Michael Myers ain't in it but that was the whole point, to create a new story for each Halloween movie starting with Halloween 3. OK, the story may not be everyone's cup of tea and that is criticism that I can understand. But I enjoy it, personally. I would have prefered them to go ahead with this concept rather than bringing back Michael Myers. But yeah, I guess Halloween 5, 6 and 8 were, like, such awesome movies.....NOT!

^Give me Halloween 5 and 6 any day before 8, ugh. Plus my problem now with 3 is that a lot of it was so stiff and boring compared to its predecessors; if it were done better, it might not have such stigma.

well, Halloween 5 and 6 are definitely better than Halloween 8. But then again, '2 girls 1 cup' is better than Halloween 8. Halloween 3 surely isn't perfect by any means and I guess the script was rewritten about 205803 times but at least it was a little different rather than just being another copy of Halloween 1. Plus it's got Tom Atkins in it.

Real Steel

Loved it. Had this movie been made in the 80's it would have been a childhood favorite of mine. It's got that same kids feel good movie flair to it that so many of my childhood favorites had. Really enjoyed it. See Michael Bay, that's how you make a movie with robots in it that doesn't just 'look' good.

nope, is that one any good? I was sort of put off by the fact that Robert Pattinson is in it. Of course that pretty much makes me a judgemental douche because that should not keep me from watching a movie. But...but...when I see him I have to think of Twilight
Now, if you tell me though that Cosmopolis is actually good then I'll give it a shot

^It's not. I rented it awhile ago, also being put off by Pattinson, but I do like Cronenberg. This is by far the worst thing he has directed, and I never complain about his films. The direction is actually boring, the aesthetics not as good as you'd hope, and Pattinson is like a dull stoner who's woken up and found himself in a real movie.

I'm going to be honest, I have never previously sat through a film he's in - images, memes and trailers for Twilight have convinced me he is film poison. I remember watching a clip for Little Ashes (on a movie reviews program), where he plays Salvador Dali. Just on the basis of a clip where he's on an impassioned art rant, I have vowed never to see this film, and consider it a damn shame they chose him to play such an iconic figure.
He is the reason I will likely never see Water For Elephants, despite my interest in the story and the rest of the cast.

Anyway, the last movie I saw was Iron Sky (finally got around to it). Cheesy but brilliant. Udo Kier is hilarious, the battle scenes are pretty rad, and the concept of space Nazis invading Earth was executed just the way I hoped it would be.
