Finished Silent Hill 2 and the bonus scenario 'Born from a Wish' and enjoyed them both. Born from a Wish was new to me and it's a nice little addition but pretty short. And now I'm playing Silent Hill 3 HD which is much scarier than SH2 which I very much like. I mean, SH2 is really good but I always thought it's lacking something. And I think it's that unsettling feeling that SH1 gave me and SH3 at least partly gives me.

Decided to fire up the Dreamcast again. Been having a blast with it.
Broke for some Double Fine time with The Cave.

Finished Silent Hill 3 and I absolutely loved it. It's much harder than Silent Hill 2, which was way too easy on normal difficulty. Way more horror, way more messed up...it's just a bit short with only 5 hours of play time. But that's OK because I enjoyed my 5 hours with it.

I will admit, even if many consider that to be heresy, I enjoyed SH3 more than SH2. Yes, the symbolism and metaphorical storytelling in SH2 is really neat but it just lacked in the horror department and creature design (pyramid head is an exception of course) and I was missing some sort of connection to the first game. Oh well, I enjoyed both games though, just enjoyed SH3 a little more :)

I played Illbleed on the Dreamcast. This is what survival horror should be.

Also, Psychonauts. Got it as part of the mega-sale through PSN. Sony fucked it up nicely. The video is ahead of audio during movie playback so cutscenes will end in the middle of sentences.

Is that the UFO ending?

nope, that's the 'Princess Heart' outfit...apparently, or obviously, a little Sailor Moon joke, heh. The UFO ending is just as silly but kind of funny, looks like a manga.

started to play Silent Hill Origins now on the PS2 but it looks not so good on an LCD TV. After doing some online research I found out that a PS2/PS3 S-Video cable makes PS2 games look much better on an LCD TV so I might just have to shell out the 20 Euros for that.
Anyways, played the game for an hour anyways and it's pretty good so far. Does a pretty good job in the horror department actually. Not quite sure whether or not I like the fact that weapons break after a while. Did not bother me too much in SH Downpour as weapons kept respawning. In Origins they don't. Oh well. Also there does not seem to be any difficuty settings option. Hope I'm good enough to beat it, heh.

ALSO:

a director's cut of the game 'Deadly Premonition' will head to PS3. I owned the original for the 360 and loved it so I'll definitely get the improved PS3 version too. Such a weird game. It's David Lynch weird.

GTA V has the official release date of September 17, 2013. Rockstar mentioned that the delay was necessary to give the game its final polish and to make it as best as possible.

They even published a disclaimer on their website asking fans not to respond with abusive comments (having a quick read-through, I can see why).

I'm sick of 'fans' throwing angry and abusive comments/messages at a developer because they've delayed a game. I can understand it for things like GT5 (which was delayed what? 6 years in total?), but a delay of mere months to make the game better is totally worth it if you ask me.
That said, I'm looking forward to GTA V a lot.

I absolutely agree. Besides, it's only a few months, not an entire year or decade or whatever. I can wait.

Replaying Final Fantasy XII for about the 4th or 5th time. I hated it almost every time I played it so would usually put it down at some point and start afresh a couple of years later but this time I'm really connecting with it... but it's sapping the free time during which I should really be studying. I'm tempted to just quit it again, not sure yet. Gonna give it this weekend to get the work/game balance right... if not then I'll just scrap it again.

I've had the exact the same experience with 12. How far did you get before quitting? My best is maybe 18 hours.

well, it's this generation of emo nerds. Booo hooo, they delayed GTA5. Booo hooo, companies charge for additional content. Booo hooo, Mass Effect 3's endings sucked. Booo hooo, booo hooo, booo hooo. I'm sure it's all people who never actually had a real problem in their lives.
