The Last Stand Arnold feeling old. Surprisingly enjoyable and also surprisingly bloody, very 80's in that respect. Put your brains in neutral and let it flow, best way to view this one.

Snitch Dwayne Johnson flexing his acting skills to limits instead of muscles and actually manages to be quite good. Susan Sarandon also in it and some other familiar faces, maybe just tad above average this one.

The Ruins This came from TV some time ago and just finished it. Novel idea, kind of... Man eating vines, why the hell not. Some gory bits, not enough though and story ends in somewhat stupid way. Maybe there's idea of sequel, but let's hope not.

Hammer Horror Double Feature

Quatermass and the Pit Loved it. It's pretty cheesy and campy but at the same time really good. One of the better sci-horror flicks from the 60's.

Plague of the Zombies Again, quite good too. This zombie flick is from 1966 so it was made 2 years before Romero put a new twist to the zombie genre. So in this one you get the classic Voodoo theme but it works quite well. I enjoyed it.

The Man With Iron Fists So there was this rapper who had some friends in film industry and after done some soundtrack work managed to hustle those mentioned folks to collaborate and this is result... It says it puts F and U back in kung fu, well shii-it didn't know they were missing in first place. It has some nice ideas like Brass Body, man who's body turns in to... brass obviously and hero character. But fight scenes are poorly done, they miss flow and lack of skill is replaced with big sprays of blood. Potential was there but they managed to miss it just. So, watch Kung Fu Hustle instead.

Touch of Evil and 12 Angry Men. Both were truely, truely terrific and looked great on Blu-ray. Great acting, great stories and suspense. Both movies really deserve to be regarded as two of the best movies of all time.

Star Trek - Into Darkness First, Benedict Cumberbatch is one of my favorite english actors atm, and though first thing that comes in mind when seeing him is Sherlock I can see him portray more villainous caharacters in future. Familiar cast from reboot is here, and robocop too. We went to see 3D and it actually worked well too. Rotten Tomatoes gives this 82% and I tend to agree, quite enjoyable ride this one.

12 Angry Men is one of my favorites.

Star Trek the reboot and Into Darkness. I enjoyed both more than I thought I would.
I'd put off seeing the initial reboot film out of lack of interest (and the lens flares) but I thought it was good. Had an intriguing story and take on the characters, despite a few silly scenes.
Into Darkness I liked more. Spoiler for those three people left who haven't seen it:

Bringing back Khan seemed like too obvious a choice, though I'd say the direction it took and Cumberdatch's performance was impressive. I'll admit though, I laughed when Spock shouted KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN! after Kirk's death.

Not perfect, but certainly worth watching.

Repo Man

loved it. Very bizarre flick from the 80's with great characters, plenty of humor and just lots of 80's cheese. They just don't make movies like this anymore. I mean, times change and stuff that worked back then may not work anymore nowadays but damn, the 80's produced some real neat gems!

We watched that the first night before we started meeting up to work on our movie. One of my favorites.

that must have been fun. Think that's the type of movie that's even better when you watch it with friends.

Man of Steel
It's no small feat to manage to make quite entertaining movie of one of the lamest superheroes out there, but Man of Steel succeeds to do that. End fight scene gets tad boring though with all wanton destruction, but Superman's decision to

is redeeming factor. Brings character more up to date. Solid performances from Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner, and Michael Shannon is good choice for villain role. He has that convincing angry/painful my balls are crushed look going on... Good show.

most recently I watched

Wreck it Ralph which was really entertaining and since I'm a gamer it was probably more enjoyable just because of that. Quite amazing animation too. Watched it in 2D though as I did not have my 3D TV yet at that time.

Coraline in 3D which was pretty damn good actually. Quite dark for a kids movie!

Mad Max on Blu-ray was really good too. Watched it with its original Australian audio track of course, heh. Can't wait to watch the rest of the trilogy.

wanted to watch Hugo in 3D today...you know, still taking advantage of the new TV...and boy, what a mess that 3D Blu-ray is. Lots of ghosting/crosstalk which really ruins the experience. It's a shame because generally I'd say the 3D effect is really good. But constant crosstalk really sucks.
Put in Avatar 3D (don't kill me, Sean) after that for a few minutes just to check if something's wrong with my TV THAT movie gets 3D right. So good I'd almost say it's witchcraft!
