My grandma passed away this morning. She was my last living grandparent. She was 90, and had been fighting cancer for the last 4 years, though when I visited her a few months ago she was in much better health than she had been in years. So, expected, but unexpected.

Yup, it sucks getting older; life stops giving as much, and starts taking more and more.

Here's the last pic I have of her. 4 generations of Pinkhams. When my dad was younger he looked just like his father. In this pic he and his mom could be twins...

My condolences, Paul. It sounds like you had a strong relationship with her. That is something to hold close.

Thought I posted earlier.. So sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother Paul. I lost my grandma last year, and I didn't know how to feel until many months later. When it really hits you it'll hit hard, but you'll make it through. She lived a full life and I have no doubt that even though she's gone, the influence she left on everyone will never fade. She'll live on in that way, and that helps with the loss.

My condolences Paul. I've lost my grandmother about a month ago (age 93) after struggling with health issues for the last few years. In a way it's a relief that her suffering is over, but it's so weird to realize she's not with us anymore.

Best wishes to you and your family.

There was an article about psychiatrist and theraphy in our uni's paper and it got me thinking. So the number one cause for students having depression, anxiety, panic attacks etc. is because they are overworked and have too little time for a healthy social life or hobbies. In comes the psychiatrist to save the day! But wait! They charge students 60-80e a session. Nobody can afford that without getting a part time job. So now we are curing our overworked students by making them work even more. How in the fuck is this ok? Besides, why should one seek help from someone who clearly values wealth over human well being?

^Psychiatrists probably cost more per session because they have the education and certification to prescribe drugs, as opposed to just a therapist. Perhaps? I think psychiatrists are a last resort, personally. I feel like the temptation to prescribe pills would be too easy for them. And people that do hand out pills for problems willy-nilly, that's un-awesome to the max.

Being woken up at 4:30 in the morning by two feuding cats singing opera to each other.

That sucks! Have you considered using a visa prepaid card? Not sure if they accept those, but in the States it's the only way to circumvent using a credit card- you load the prepaid card either by cash or check, and then you use the card as a regular Visa online or in person
