so yeah, I received my Sennheiser HD 477 headphones today and I like them a lot. Just listening to Terria with them and me likey! Of course there are better ones but I didn't wanna spend 200 Euros for headphones as I don't own a money shitting donkey. The ones I got cost 40 Euros and I am surprised how good they are for that little money. The sound is pretty good indeed and the bass is not too much either. I also listened to Alien with them and it did sound yummy as well.

Some people have complained about Sennheisers being a little too laid back. Do you find that?

Oh, what are you plugging them in to? Do you use an amp? How's the volume?

Money shitting donkey? Awesome.

I have Sennheiser MX300 earbuds. They suck. But so do my ears.

Hahahaha! Man, you are really missing out then. Mine's been squeezing out £5 notes all day. Must have been the cabbage I fed it.

I had a pair of HD 457's and they were very good for the money. A little bit 'flat' compared to an older pair I had...but then, I didnt pay for that pair heh.

Now I use a pair of Sennheiser HDR110 wireless headphones. Not perfect quality, but I was so fed up of tripping arse over tit whenever I stood up because the cable was wrapped round my toes.

Now I can listen to Devy while on the toilet! Perfect.

So, which song(s) best accompany bowel movements? Do you have "moods" like a different song for very firm stool or loose? :disturb:

Sorry, couldn't resist.

We're still waiting for Hummer to be released.

The moving of my bowels is often a very stressful experience for me, so often the music reflects that. For an angry turd...I would have to say that SYL's "Aftermath" does the trick. And boy, the title suits it! As for as something to suit the more soothing passage...perhaps OM's "Seventh Wave". If you like you can imagine 7 tiny waves splashing around the toilet bowl.

Now, was that enough? Or too much?

phew, those are questions for audiophiles but I'm not audiophile, I'm emetophile. Now you will have to look that up yourself if you wanna know what that is  Uhm....I don't know. They are not perfect but for 40 Euros they are really fine. If you have the opportunity to get better ones because you DO own a money shitting donkey, then go for it because the HD 477 ones are not the best of the best. I'm just using them with my little stereo system or my DVD player and for me that works...at least untill I can afford one of those donkeys.

I looked up emetophile. I guess there's something for everybody out there. I can't say that I "get" that at all. But, hey, whatever turns your crank. And, please, tell me this has nothing to do with RT's. I still don't know what that is and, now having learned with an emetophile is, I'm not sure I want to. :D

Well, as to headphones, I'm interested in the Sennheisers. I'm a budding audiophile. I'm really enjoying the Grados. Very detailed sound. Love it. Had to re-rip a bunch of CDs to higher bitrates to take advantage of my new cans. They cost about $95 US so I don't know what the conversion to Euro is. Probably about 75 euros. I dunno.

"oh darling...I love you...from the bottom of my....stomach" *BLEURK* Awesome stuff! As for RT's...you signed up at Ryan's board. The answer is hidden in the "general recommendations thread" and I actually just did that for you when I saw that you signed up

now back to headphones. With the ones I have it depends on what you listen to. Some stuff sounds better than other stuff. And if I had an awesome stereo I'm sure they'd even sound better. But since you're an audiophile they probably won't be enough for ya. I didn't wanna pay a whole lot of money for headphones but I've seen some pretty interesting ones on Amazon that I would have rather bought. But 200 to 300 Euros :?

Honestly, in googling emetophile, I saw a page, Planet of Puke I think it was, and, dude, I found myself nearly puking looking at the photos of people upchucking. Reminds me of the time that I was, uh, perusing some pages on the internet and came across one dedicated to people who love smearing poo all over themselves.

That was just wrong. I almost blew chunks on that, too. Maybe my taste in music is unconventional, but I don't know how someone wants to rub feces on themselves as getting it on. Fuhgettaboutit.

And, back to headphones- I don't know how much of an audiophile I will really be because I just can't see spending 10K on a pair of speakers, say. Maybe on a whole sound system. Plus, these guys obsess over the kind of speaker wire they're using. I just can't go there.

I think. :)

I am considering looking into getting the Shure e4c earphones. I have the e2c's and I like them but I hear the e4c has greater detail and better bass. That'd be swell. But, I think they run about $300 US. Ouch. So, we'll see.

I don't really know much about them (And have no plans to get any, but out of interest...) why are they bad for your ears?

Two reasons:

1. Because they produce a far more focused sound and
2. Because they are much closer to your ear drums

They contribute to hearing loss at a MUCH faster rate than normal headphones. To reduce potential hearing loss using ANY style of headphones, it's a good idea to keep your listening session to a maximum of one hour, giving yourself a good half hour in between periodic listens. This is especially true for situations involving long session periods, i.e. recording in a studio, whether professional or home.

It's a fact that if you overextend your eardrums, certain frequencies become inaudible and your eardrums can never be repaired, thus denying you the possibility of ever hearing those frequencies again. Gradual loss of certain frequencies is inevitable, but there's no reason to speed up the process. Your ears are precious tools and should be treated as so.

If you're going to be using headphones for any extended periods of time, make sure to give your ears a break every hour or so for a good half hour. Believe me, your ears will be no good to you if they've been strained, and if you're doing any recording or mixing, the quality will suffer and you won't know it until further down the road and end up getting frustrated.

Well, that was way longer than I had planned.

Words of wisdom there A-Daamage, be nice to your ears. I've become sensitive to certain sounds because of cymbal abuse without earplugs and it's not a nice thing. Keep the volume down lads.

As for headphones, I'm using a pair of Koss sporta pro's at work, good stuff for a cheap buck(around 35 Euros I think). I'm no audiophile what so ever though, maybe there are better ones in that pricerange.

Beyer Dynamics should do. As long as you turn it right up!
