To those of you who have listened to that little excerpt from the
"Core Meltdown"-scratch-track...any comments/suggestions/opinions?

Hey dude, I was just about to email you but I may as well voice my opinion here (for all to see!).

Really loved the Core Meltdown sample. I hear your SYL/Physicist influence, but it has your own spin on it. The vocals were very cool, I really dig the various layers (I can hear you clean on top of some deeper growling, which is very neat). This song seems to have lots of groove and moves along really smoothly, so I will be very interested to hear a longer version of it....I imagine that to be almost hypnotic.

Anyway, 3 thumbs up from me!

I concur completely, except the 3 thumb part. I only have two. But, both of them are way up and excited to hear the whole project in its entirety.

Thanks for the positive feedback so far :D

You're, by the way, not the only ones who are looking forward to finally
listen to "Terraformer" in it's entirety. I feel the same way, believe me.
As I said, I'm working as fast as I can. I don't wanna get sloppy, just
'cause of hurrying myself more than necessary. The project steps into
the critical phase now, and I don't wanna make mistakes that I'll regret
later on.

Here's a list of things left to be done:
Finding the final arrangements (about 70% done). After that, I'll record
the final takes (0% done, but that should be a matter of merely a week
or so). Well, all but the drums...I'll work with rudimentary drumloops
and sequences, defining the basic grooves and breaks, that, soundwise
seen, will come quite close to how I want the final (real) drums to sound.
This will assure that there will be no problems with fitting Patricks final
performance into the mix. I know that it's quite uncommon to record
the drums as the last thing, but heck...who cares...
I hope that we'll be able to record the drums in about three days.
One day reserved for the technical side (preparing the room, tuning
the kit, finding the optimal mic-positions, etc.) and two days for the
actual recordings. If it should take longer, fuck it...It took about 6
years to realize the project, so two or three more days won't kill me.
Then it should be only a piece of cake to mix and master the whole bunch.
Anyway...I can't wait to hear the final product.
You have no idea what it means to me to finally get this onto a disc.

Wow. I only found this thread then, that sample is fucking awesome! Really good! I realise that this hasn't been updated since March, but I thought I may as well reply my thoughts anyways. :)

Hey Scoon...

Thx for the positive feedback. By the way...Which teaser are you
referring to and how did you get it? I'm wondering, cause I don't
remember havin' sent you any of the teasers. Did you get it from
someone else here at the forum?

Anyway...here's some info for all of you.
I'm making progress...and finally being able to actually hear what
I've had in my head for so many years now is sending chills down
my spine. You know, it's one thing to have a vision, but seeing and
hearing it becoming real is killer!
And it's far beyond my expectations. I now know I made the right
decision in choosing the path I'm actually walking. I have to smile,
when I think back to the summer of 2000, when it all started.
Back then I had no idea how to realize such a project. But knowing
that Devin had realized his projects all by himself encouraged my
to try the same thing. Over the years I got my hands on the
necessary gear and learned how to use it. And I think, I now have
the experience and skills to finally get something to disk.

Though I'm doing this project for Devin in the first place, as a
try to pay back some of the amazement, stenght, hope and fun
that he gave me through his projects, I'm also looking forward
to see how other people in general will like what my mind bred.
By the way...I know that this is still all up the air for you, since
I haven't even released the first album...but "Terraformer" will
definitely be continued. Through the structuring process I've
collected so many new ideas (not to speak of all the stuff that
is left over, cause it would have blown the dimensions of the
first release to come) that I already have more than enough
stuff to start a sequel. Not enough for a whole album yet, but
hell...the rest will come to me during the process and it'll create
itself like the first one did.

That's it for now...thx for your attention. And stay tuned! I can't
exactly tell when Nr.1 will be finished (it happens when it happens)
but the release of the first one is close!

Hey lads...Sorry for keeping you twitching at the hook...

I haven't been able to go online for almost 2 month,
cause I moved. The final takes for TF have been iced
and delayed till the 14th of July, when my hollidays
start. But don't worry...TF WILL be out this summer.
Ill tell you more in the next days.
Stay tuned!

I had heard from Danny a few times much more recently than this. He was very busy recording some incredible music. I havent heard from him in the last few months though.

I think that Terraformer was very much still alive though.

Will have to get an update!

Hey everyone...

Dave is right..."Terraformer" IS alive and kicking. But I decided to have
a real drummer playing on the record rather than programming all the
tracks. I also came up with a lot of new stuff that is really cool and that
I want to include in the project.

My drummer Mike and me are rehearsing the songs right now. Once
we'll have found the final arrangements and once my new Roland
TD12 drumkit will arrive we'll start to record the final tracks.

Sorry for keeping you all waiting, but hey...I've invested so much time
and money into this project that I want to get the max out of it. Guess
you all will understand that. Anyway, it should be ready to get released
within the next 12 weeks. I'm talking about the free MP3-version here.
I have no idea how long it'll take to realize a "hardware version" yet.

Now, to make this clear:
There will be three different versions of "Terraformer".

First of all the "Trinity-Edition". As you can tell by the name,
only three of these will be made. One for Devin, one for Mike
(my drummer) and one for myself. So only persons involved
in the project and Devin will get their hands on these babies.

Once Devin got his copy of "Terraformer" I'll release the MP3-
version. This will be the version free to anyone interested in it.
This one could be called the "standard version." It's completely
free, but only available via download in MP3-format.

The third version will be the "fan-edition".
What does that mean...Well, "Terraformer" is a tribute to Devin,
it technically will BELONG to him once he'll get his copy, and so
I will not ask ANY money for it from anyone. I've already dicussed
this with him...and he called me CRAZY for planning to do that, by
the way...he felt flattered, but also urged me to squeeze some
bucks out of it if I could. So I had THIS idea:

If you LIKE the record after having listened to it and if you want
to support the makers (so mainly me and Mike, who assisted me
in a lot of ways), you can order the "fan-edition" directly from me.
This one will come as "the real deal". It comes on a real disc and
in a two disc case that will also contain a bonus DVD including
a "making of" of "Terraformer", plus some cool gimmicks. The
discs also will be signed by Mike and me and will also include
a small personal dedication to each customer. So all of the
"fan-edition"-versions will be unique as well.

Now before you say "Great! I'll get one of those anyway..."
be warned though! All of these "fan-edition" packages will
be hand-/home-made. Selfburnt discs, no "professional" stuff.
It would be FAR to expensive for a private person like me to
have these professionally made. One the other hand...as cool
as it is to have a "real" disc, pressed in a factory, coming with
a professionally printed booklet, keep in mind that ALL of the
"fan-edition"-units will be made DIRECTLY by the creators.
And THAT's very special too...
I'll also try to make the "fan-edition" as professional as I can.
I'll only use high quality recordables and burn them at a very
low speed to prevent burning failures. So the discs should be
very durable if you treat them carefully. I will label them and
the "fan-edition" will also come with booklets printed by a
professional printing center.

I have no idea how to price the "fan-edition" yet. I'll have to
calculate the whole thing through first. I hope to stay under
the production cost limit of 10 Euros for each single unit. So
I might ask 13 to 15 (NOT including postal costs) for each of
them, depending on how high the production costs are
(between 8-10 Euros, I HOPE!).

So much for today!
Stay tuned!

I don't care if you charge 30 bucks, I'll be purchasing it the second it becomes available. You track on the HDAS is one of the top 5 I listen to all the time.

Hey Danny, thanks for the update!

Sounds like you are making good progress with Terraformer. I will of course definitely want to hear the final thing ASAP! I would really like to buy a home made fan version too, that sounds like a great idea.

Tell me, how does the Trinity version differ from the others? Or is that a secret...?

Also, how is it working out with a real drummer? Your drums sounded really good programmed! Will be interesting to see how they compare.

Keep in touch dude!
