Forum moderation does not really mean interaction with DTB/HDR. No more than anybody else here anyway. As I mentioned earlier in the thread (more than once probably), I was fortunate enough to be able to mention it to Devin, but other than that....no. I may offer to send them a copy, but I am not going to force it down their throat. I am sure they have other things to think about just now!

Oh, of course, I'm just curious if anyone from the DTB camp has heard about it or expressed any interest. We've been blessed numerous times by their amazing talent and it's nice to finally be able to give something back to them.

Reason can do damn near anything. All you need is a computer with a lot of RAM and a MIDI keyboard. The only limitations are the amount of RAM on your computer, as the program is virtually infinitely expandable, and your imagination. It has it's own sequencer, but I prefer to route it into a pro sequencer like Pro-Tools or Digital Performer. It has a built-in mixer, drum machine, analog polysynth, digital samplers, loop player, EQs, multiple effects processors, and on and on. One of it's coolest features is that it's all visual, as in all the "equipment" is displayed to look like real-life equipment on a virtual rack. By hitting the TAB key, it flips the whole virtual rack around so you can see all your signal routing with actual cords that you can move around by just clicking them and dragging them to another input/output. Point and click doesn't come anywhere near utilizing the program's full potential. It's not a bonus, it's an integral tool for using the program at a musical capacity. I can barely imagine the migraine that would arise trying to compose music using Reason without a MIDI keyboard. Not using a MIDI keyboard with Reason would be like trying to use a sniper rifle without a scope - it's possible to get results but you wouldn't be using it to it's full capacity and it's not nearly as potent.

well, you can pretty much sequence ANYTHING "by hand", it'd just take a long long time, so having a keyboard makes it a lot easier.

Actually you don't need a MIDI cable for FL Studio, but that's just cause it's not real MIDI. You need a USB controller though.

I have one, that can be used as a MIDI controller. Which is the main goddamn reason I bought it, but I had no idea it was gonna be a hassle to get a proper MIDI cable for it. The regular ones that go into the Multimedia/Joystick port on your PC dont work with it, or it wont work on my PC. Its a $200 Yamaha keyboard, I cant remember the model number right now

OO I had one of those, traded it to a friend for his shitty broken bass a few months ago. I got so ripped off, he was like 'sure it works!" pah. I miss my keyboard:(

I'm getting $2000 soon, half from my Grandma's will (She died last May), and the other half from my dying Grandpa.

I think I might just pick up the keystation and experiment with Reason, and FL. I don't think I'm quite ready for ProTools yet.

Also, does anyone know if USB MIDI cables work with any MIDI Controller device? I dont wanna pay $20-40 for one to find out it isnt compadible with my Yamaha keyboard. The model is YPT-200.

Oh okay, cause the only store around here has a MIDI cables that on the PC end are for a Joystick/Multimedia port. And my only soundcard doesnt even have one that works.

By the cable I mean one end having the IN/OUT and the other being USB.
