Right,

I know there's some pretty clued-up people on here, So help me out if you would :D . Basically, I'm currently studying Music Technology in college, and it's great but there's certain aspects of it that I thought would be covered more that haven't.

I basically need some starting-off knowledge on stuff like sampling / samplers, sequencers, programming synths (i.e. to play arpeggios without you having to play them youself, what the job and possibilites of synths are, etc.), drum machines and midi. I'm getting to grips with midi so it's mainly the others i;m concerned about. I basically want to be in a position where i can have my own setup at home and make music, probably quite experimental by nature, and incorporate all the former aspects into a live gig.

If anyone is willing to share their knowledge or point me in the right direction ie with a website or whatever (i've tried youtube for tutorials but it seems to mostly just be people showing off), then i would be VERY grateful.

Thankyou please :o

are you interested in hardware or software stuff?

cause i really know jack shit about hardware sampling and stuff like that
but i could get some info from the top of my head about software-stuff.

but before anything, i'd say for live stuff, having a laptop with a midi controller keyboard plugged in it would be worlds of help.

Interested in both really. I've just got into this state more and more where i can't listen to anything without thinking 'I wonder how they made that sound' and i just need some basic knowledge on synths and samplers and recording them etc. Any knowledge is good!
