Is this Gecko plague a new development in Australia or something?

If I saw THAT crawling on the ceiling I'd think my drink had been spiked!

And yeah, up here in Queensland it seems to be a relatively recent plague. The more commonly known animal problem looks like this:

Crappy? haha... depends on your definition, I guess. I like hot weather, so from a selfish point of view the weather here is perfect. The drought is crappy though, I'll admit that. Water's kind of useful to have.

Actually, when I was bushwalking a few years ago, I passed a pair of blue-tongue lizards fighting. They had each other by the neck and were going round and round and round...

2 hours later on my way back - there they still were.
So I felt it was my duty as a concerned environmentalist to separate them, before they both died of exhaustion.
They each hissed at me and buggered off in different directions.
Mission accomplished!

Well, they're not native and they're in plague proportions up here, but not sure what effect they;re having on the native ecosystem.

australia and new zealand are pretty much like mini-earths the way i see it, for the immense variety of ecosystems... so i guess if you fart too loud, you can cause a natural disaster
