Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

I fucking hate this new look. Think the old one was sooooo much better. Been talking to a few people who're rightly pissed about it.. Cancelling subscriptions and everything.. :?

I'm not a subscriber so I won't complain.
Didn't like it at first but 10 seconds later I think I don't care :P

Seems like they pushed all the random talk parts down the page and bring the music related stuff to the top, or more prominent.
I have to say that I hardly ever listened to someone's station...

Oh and I like the new (I think) "loved tracks" option, as well as different playlist, if I ever take time to make several, as I can hardly build just one.

Loved tracks and playlists aren't new :P

I haven't heard a lot of people who liked the new look... I like it though. Less "Web 2.0" and easier navigation.

I'm getting used to it. Bits of it I quite like, others not so much. The old front page was perhaps easier to see at first glance where everything was, this takes a bit of deciphering but I daresay we'll become as familiar with it as the old one in time.

I like it. I know you mean about it looking less Web 2.0 as well.

It's simply laid out, looks nice and is functional - what's not to like? Some people just fear change :P

Yes. Yes, we do. Now get off my lawn sonny!

It's mostly fine though. The same basic info is there, just in different places, maybe a bit less of it (I liked the old long lists I have to say.) I'll take some time to play about with the custom features later.

My impressions exactly, mostly same stuff in different places. I like the player, which sits in top right corner and shows how awesome my taste is.

I read in their blog that option was coming back soon.

They launched the thing rather badly I think. It has obviously come as a bit of a nasty surprise to many users. Also they should perhaps have made sure it was all operational before launching it. I read many reports of radio not working, playlists missing, etc.

I find there are now too many 'bitty' pictures, it doesn't feel so 'clean' somehow. Hopefully they'll make changes as the feedback filters through.

There's an article that says the new layout was made only to implement a new sort of google ad... I don't know how true that is, but i'm surprised people haven't yet developped a automatism to exclude the ads from their vision... (and like many others, flash ad abuse putting my computer on its knees forced me to use flashblock so...)

(Ah the loved tracks option already existed ? I guess I missed it, cuz' several times I wanted to mark an artist to remember me to check it out back later, cuz' I'm not really into downloading an album on a glimpse just cuz' I like a song, so I'd rather have a list of "potientaly cool things to check out further later", but uh, I missed it obviously :P
Or was it part of the lastfm player ? Cuz' I have yet to understand its purpose, it seemed pretty limited when you're not a subscriber)

It was announced a while before it was launched, first as a closed beta for subscribers only but it had been in public beta for about a month. I think they even sent an email to all users when the beta became public. So if it came as a surprise, you've just not been paying attention :P

And there are always bugs, especially when you're dealing with a big project like Last.fm. And even more so because they decided to change both the look of the website as well as the backend engines at the same time (real-time scrobbling, better recommendations, etc). Many of those bugs are a combination of many factors that can't really be found by automated testing or beta-testing with a small group of users. They'll be fixed though, I've always found the Last.fm developers to work rather quickly and to listen to what their users want.

Most items on your profile page (perhaps other pages too, I'm not sure) have some settings. Click the little gear icon on the right top of what you want to change, charts perhaps, and settings. You can set the length of the charts yourself now ;)

Since I've been a member of Last.fm since last October, the new layout was of course a bit awkward to handle. On the other hand, I feel the charts are updated more often, which is a very welcome change for me. Or maybe I'm just imagining it.
Also quite happy with the recommendations since I discovered both Gojira and Zimmer's Hole.

The charts are live now, so every track you play is immediately processed and it shows on your profile page ;)
