Howdy. Thought I'd plug my newest project on this forum as it is probably within listening range of a lot of you (very Meshuggah-inspired). Lots ambience towards the end as well.

Feel free to give it a listen, it's only 5 mins. I shall be recording a few more tracks in April when I'm back from Uni, if anybody is interested in it - hope you enjoy :)

Procyon B

Edit: and yes, I stole the track title :P it suited the mood :)

Is there any kind of possibility that you upload the song to somewhere else so people that have problems with myspace can listen too? It sounds mighty interesting..

I'm really liking it, but if kind of feels like yoru transitions between sections are a bit jumpy. Less like your going into it, and sort of stumbling into it. It could just be me, of course. I really like the heavier bit, though. =D

And as a drummer, I appreciate yours. He's not too heavy on the double kick, but uses it effectively.

I think Phase hit it on the head there. Although, I am liking a lot some of the riffage there.

And a clean vocalist in the southeast of england you say? :D

Please please PLEASE do not over do the clean vocals if you find someone. Dont end up like Periphery sounding all watered down all of a sudden. Clean vocals can be great, but when the music gets harder, like parts in your song for example, clean vocals begin to sound weak. Sure growl vocals might sound "cliche" for heavy music...but they just fit the mood and sound of the music better.

Otherwise, I really like the clean part that keeps repeating and some of the riffs. Wish you would bring the distorted guitar up in the mix though!

Hey Joe,

Youve been busy with drinking the web-a-soda

I'd probably rethink that clean riff, its a bit standout-ish. Maybe another line over it or some delay.

The metal riffs are cool for sure.

The drums in the middle section (bridgy bit) seem a bit to ballsy, maybe some dynamics there, quieter kicks...etc..

Get some huge reverb on those synth sections to create some big atmo

-Nice work bro

Yeah, I know what you mean, Periphery fucked up royally IMO.

We tried, adding two layers of bass guitar as well, but our shitty PC just could not cope with the metal! :P

Both suggestions are exactly what I was thinking...

Now... to get the software...

Thank you all for the response! I very much appreciate it :)

Well are you mic'ing it or recording direct? Because direct recording might be your best route at this time.

And I'm glad someone else agrees that Periphery went from possible world touring band to just bland...I mean all they are now is a Sikth rip off with clean vocals and once in a while some heavies.

Didnt periphery's vocalist go to Divine Heresy?

You know i rather like the space metal idea. Sounds really good. Yaknow i can sing like Devin Townsend (not quite as good tho obviously, but pretty close) But i dont live in England and dont know the first thing about putting vocals to music trax :(

We record direct, but we're waiting for Will to get a new amp (big ol' Line 6 Spider III, I believe) and we'll probably re-record/ adjust over Easter.

And yes that's a shame about you being so far away, would be interesting to hear your vocals at some point - if they're anything like the man I need to hear them! :)
