One more update tomorrow from me and then I'm off to get married in the Dominican Republic. We fly out tomorrow night. What a week for me, an RVP Modern Drummer feature (first ever), recording the best Devy album I've been involved in and then getting married in dominican Republic. This has to be the best week of my life hands down.... stay posted for a new update tomorrow...

Hey Ryan, congratulations on all of the above! I can't wait to hear your drumming on this record as I am sure it will be fantastic.

Huge congrats on getting married! I was married last year and had my honeymoon in the Dominican republic so I know you will have an amazing time. Be sure to go snorkling as they have some amazing coral reefs. They also love their rum! We stayed in an all-inclusive resort along the north shore, in Puerta Plata and it was flawless. Other highlights of our stay were; hugging dolphins (?!), amazing food, cigar factories, coffee plantations and really friendly people. A great country and I hope to go back some day.

RVP Studio Update

Day Two - Final Day

The drums for "Addicted" are done!

I think I had the best time of my life in the studio these past two days. Dev, Beav and Mark were amazing to record with and we did nothing but laugh and have an awesome time. We took some pretty fucked up pictures at the end of the session too... we were tired and having fun! When it came to recording, we put everything aside and got down to business. I'm super stoked with ALL the takes I did. Dev and I worked hard on coming up with kick ass grooves mixed with some really crazy fills and some overall BIG ASS drumming! Sheldon the engineer at the studio was awesome. He got one massive drum sound for the album to help matters even more. Devin's assistant Devin (yes his name is Devin too) did a great job in drum teching and making sure everyone in the band was happy. What a kick ass dude!

As for the drum parts I laid down.... Dev worked me in new ways that have made me, once again, a better drummer because of it. There are some really cool double kick patterns, intricate cymbal work and of course some crazy beats and drum fills mixed in with some meat and potatoes beats and fills to slam the groove home. All the songs have such a strong energy, stronger than anything I've done with Dev in the past. I know the energy will continue into the recording for the rest of the instruments, everyone is on it and nailing their parts. Dev has such a strong vision and is extremely focused that there is no way this album be less than awesome. I truly think this will be my new all time favorite Dev record, it's just too fucking good. Mark my words...

Today, they start recording Beav's Bass parts and then on to Mark's guitars and so on. Unfortunately I won't be present for the recording for the next two weeks because I'm going to Dominican Republic to get married - Thanks for all the kind wishes from you all on the board. One thing I know for sure is that the awesome energy we had with recording drums will continue through to the rest of the recording because everyone is so stoked on this record. We have a great group of guys on this record and Dev has such an amazing vision for the record.

Lastly, I personally want to thank Dev. The guy is not only an amazing musician, song writer, mixer and producer.... he also happens to be one of the best friends a person could have. He's kind, caring, considerate, understanding and funny as fuck!!! It's a given that he is awesome to work with when it comes to music but it's equally awesome hanging out with the guy and shootin' the shit as friends. I'm thankful to have Dev as a very good friend. He's truly one of a kind.

Thanks Dev, we fucking killed it bro. I loved every minute of it and anytime you need some RVP drumming, you know I'm there bro. I'll always support what you do whether I'm playing with you on album or listening to an album as a fan, just keep making the awesome music you do. You rule!

As for you fans.... THANKS! You know you all rule and keep on supporting Dev and his music, buy the Cd, support him anyway you can and you will keep on hearing the great music this guy has to offer. It just keeps getting better and better. Take care and I'll check in when I'm back from the Dominican as a married man!!! .... kiddin', I'm lucky to have the girl I'm going to marry. Time to start drinking on the beach....
